Someone either in the comments on that article or on Twitter was sort of casting off Kurt Busch's solid Indy 500 finish as no big deal because "everyone wrecked". I guarantee that guy didn't actually watch the race, because while there were a lot of wrecks, he was running well up the field most of the day and pretty much all those wrecks happened behind him.

I have similar thoughts about people who thought Michael Waltrip's first Daytona 500 win was a fluke. They forget he was running in front of all the wrecks all day long.

Kurt Busch doesn't care what Jenna Fryer thinks.

Nor does Tony Stewart.

That points more to how Kurt and Tony have acted like nappy rash toddlers to the media in the past when things aren't going their way than anything about Jenna Fryer. I'm sure every reporter in NASCAR loves being regularly shat on by the guys who basically got rich because of their coverage.

Mario Andretti has ripped into Fryer as well, albeit with a pretty reasoned argument.

He also made the observation that McLaren are pretty much admitting 2017 is lost and 'trying to make something out of the partnership'. If it goes well in May, I wouldn't bet against McLaren putting Jenson back in the F1 team in 2018, and giving Alonso a season of IndyCar to keep him on the books.

I can't see him doing a whole season but I am suprised they're not putting him in for Phoenix this year as an extended test.

I don't know where to post this but I hope I'm right here. I'm actually thinking about going to IndyCar in Phoenix and would have some questions. I have a lens up to 400mm and I'm wondering whether T1 or the main grandstand would be better to take pictures. And the pit pass, is that good stuff or not worth the money? I've also looked at some pictures of the track and it seems you could just sit out in the desert and watch the race?

When I first started using twitter, I followed all of the nascar journalist types. Jenna was the first to get unfollowed. She just comes across as an irredeemable c**t most of the time.

The Katie Hopkins/Piers Morgan style of journalism applied to motorsport

I hope the world will wake up to the trollish attention grabbing journalism style soon, but since advertising dollars only really depend on amount of clicks on a page, not angry clicks or disagreeing clicks, then I don't see it going away any time soon.

Specific questions like that you should probably ask at trackforum.com

Great event Indycar had celebrating 2 decades for Tony Kanaan and Helio Castroneves with plenty of funny stories, I never knew how close they were coming up through the ranks

Gary Gerould was always my favorite pit reporter back in the day.

Cool to hear from Steve Horne as well. I'm not really sure why Tasman went to a one car team in CART in 1998 though, as they were a two car team in 1996 and 1997. Maybe Tecate/Fernandez were the reason there were two cars, since they moved from Tasman to Patrick for 1998.

I think that was already brought up in the NASCAR thread.

The sad reality is that stage 4 cancer is the most advanced stage, it means that it has spread to other parts of the body and with colon cancer the five-year survival rate is only about 10%, so the outlook is most probably not good at all for John.

Kinda surprised that the best lap speed so far is just a little over 170.5 MPH. Was expecting them to be faster than Phoenix. Though I guess the track surfaces are playing a huge role, as Phoenix is still fairly fresh and very smooth.

Mark Miles had a interview with Motorsport.com on some possible new tracks for the future.

interesting that IndyCar is in talks with Mitime (who plans on building alot of tracks in China, also owns Utah / Miller here in the USA).

Pubela would need ALOT of work to get up to IndyCar standards I reckon as well.......
