That was the track outpsyching Hamilton. Moaned about the damp patch but had no actual bearing in his bad start.

The battle isn't all about the corner where the pass takes place. The drivers are fighting hard to position themselves in or out of reach, but it would be stupid to put oneself out at this stage of the race.

This being said, I miss the times at Suzuka where the prime overtaking spot was the chicane, in that tricky curved approach. Nowaday everyone close enough just tucks in behind trying to get a good exit knowing that they will benefit from DRS on the S/F straight
