I'm so fed up with F1 that I'll choose not to watch the qualifying. It's maybe better for one's blood pressure, so I recommend it.

Anyway, as I've already paid for the coverage and Bahrain has a history of providing excellent battles, skipping the race as well is not an option.

I usually skip qualifying (too busy doing Saturday stuff) but I still make myself some time to watch the race anyway.

The Sun (you might stop reading now...) reports that Alonso might not be fit for Bahrain and that Vandoorne is flying back from Japan as a precaution. (Sauce: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/motorsport/7035562/Fernando-Alonso-may-miss-Bahrain-Grand-Prix-as-a-precaution-after-near-death-crash-in-Melbourne.html)

Don't think it'll actually happen, but you never know...

"Near death crash"
Häkkinen at Adelaide was near death, but I guess for The Sun that would have been "literally fatal".

Any lap on that race was near-fatal. Their heads were travelling at 300kph literally at a few feet from a solid stainless steel fence !!

I don't think that will happen, Vandoorne is already at Okayama, with his car ready for the Super Formula final tests before the season starts! They will be testing this thursday and friday!

I think The Sun simply blows up the the routine check before the weekend, especially after such a crash. I doubt he won't be able to pass it.

they simply love when those crashes happen to warn "don't let your sons/grandsons watch that carnage where everybody from drivers to spectators are prone to die"

but if those crashes doesn't happen anymore, those tabloids would simply became defunct

Same for the Daily Mail with his 'near fatal' accident at Melbourne as well.

Unlikely to see any of this LIVE. MotoGP is more important

I wonder if the whole british media is that way or just a few of them! Alonso walked away perfectly after the crash, they are making a huge mess of that!

Everybody calling it a horror crash ir along the lines of that are also fantasizing. Everytime an actual crash happens, it's 'huge' and what not, while everyone walks away fine. It's annoying, but how can you make something out of nothing?

In case people haven't noticed, this is one of the most packed motorsport weekends of the year, outside of the triple in May. F1, MotoGP, NASCAR, IndyCar, V8's and Formula E all racing.

So if F1 isn't stellar, there are 5 other categories to keep one entertained.
