The Cup race doesn't start until the fake debris caution with 30 to go

Texas, no matter the car, aero packeage or time period, has always sucked.

2004 race had a photo finish, but that's literally the only checkered flag I remember from here. Oh and a lot of wrecks in 97-98

I recall Burton and Kenseth having a great battle for the win in 06 or 07 but that's about it.

Sad when the track has been around for about 18 years and we can only recall 2 good things really.

Aren't we supposed to hype up Gordon and Burton's "fight"?

And Kyle flipping the bird... that race was the last time I ever did *something* "recreationally", and as the crazy shit started to happen that day, I was like "is this freakin' real? Is this a part of what I smoked, or... what?"

I haven't done it since, btw.

Wasn't Texas also where Joonyer drove the #5 Hendrick car after Kyle bailed?

Yeah. And IIRC it was a result of an accident between the 5 and 8 checking up behind something that happened in front of them.

Johnson and Kenseth too, in 2007.

It's fun, but I'm not very functional when I do it. I very much doubt I'd be any good at NR2003 under the influence... haha

I used to sit down with a 6 pack back in the day and jump on NR2003 and race online. That shit was fun.

*Don't drink and drive*

In 2007 or so, my then-girlfriend, now-wife went to Starbucks the morning of an NR2003 league race I had. She bought a bag of those chocolate covered espresso beans... they were kinda expensive, but anyway.

I went to our local short track afterwards, and I noticed that when I got back home, she had left the bag of chocolates in the car. They had melted in the sun, then congealed into a chocolate bar type of thing. I thought it would be a terrible waste of money to just buy them, and then let them melt and not eat them. Seeing as how it just looked like a chocolate bar, I ate it in one sitting as one might do with a Kit-Kat bar... except these were frickin' coffee beans wrapped in chocolate, which I knew, but obviously didn't think would affect me all that much.

So... the online race rolls around (it was at Chicagoland) and the caffeine was really starting to f'n kick in at that point. Colors on the screen were shimmered in a really messed-up way, and I couldn't focus enough to hit my marks and make decent laps. I don't remember much from that race, but I remember driving from the track and down onto the apron, and through the grass at some point and yelling out "baaaaabe....... I can't handle this shit!!"

Booze, caffeine, other drugs - if I'm not 100% focused, I can't race. Props to Aaron Fike.

I've been clean for a week: no weed, no scripts, and no booze. Fucking sinusitis
