Sometimes i really hate human beings. Equipment stolen from Sarah Fisher's indoor karting track. :(

Pretty confident that internet justice will help identify the guy in the end though.

I figured that was the case. 200 would have been way too short for the modern cars.

So townsend bell replied to someone earlier today asking about the 500 that he has chosen to drive for a former indycar driver. that was it though and it doesnt narrow it too much either.

that narrows it down to either: Andretti, Coyne, Foyt, Ganassi, KVSH, Rahal or Schmidt

realistically that means it's either the 5th Andretti car, 3rd KVSH car or the 3rd Schmidt car

Yes, I know owners cannot run the series, but IndyCar should really start listening to guys like Penske and Mears. I agree 100% to what he says in this article.

Also I'm to lazy to search for the article with Rick Mears, it was posted here before and it's a mindblowingly good read.

So, it's almost a month that comes before May...DIBS ON THE 100th INDY 500 THREAD!

I mean, if you're all cool with that. I've got some nice literature to quote...

I don't like rotating onboard cameras. Fair enough if it's an oval and you want to show several laps of cars almost touching lap after lap, but rotating while a car is passing another on a road course corner, especially when it ends in a collision, makes it impossible to know what happened and how the cars moved with relation to each other and to the race track.
In those moments you want to see what either driver is doing to keep it on track, instead you have that shot that seems addressed to freaking casuals to show them how "zOMG CLOSE RACING. RACE CARS. CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. INCHES. EXCITING"

Also, sometimes, when they're done, they don't bring them back exactly to the dead center position, and these monsters keep following the car like that. Call me obsessive-compulsive if you wish, but that's when my left eyelid starts getting spasms and I have to look away from the TV until they're back to an external shot.

THANK YOU. I'm glad to know I'm not the only person who is seriously annoyed by this.

I agree as well. I was sick a couple weeks ago and decided to re-watch the 92 500 that indycar had posted on youtube and damn, i really miss that camera that was located on the side of the roll hoop. Maybe they did away with it since the cockpits come up so high now and it wouldnt look as cool? haha

Its like the TV Director is accidentally leaning on the control stick for the rotating cams most of the time!

I think you should all stop moaning and be thankful it's not NASCAR's gyrocam

I.... ok. They should go full retard, add a compass to that, so it remains facing magnetic North for the whole lap ^^

Wait, it's not even a real gyroscope is it? Or it would be more stable. It's just some poor guy on minimum wage that manually tries to match the horizon with a super-twitchy control stick.

Yep, they keep claiming its real even when it's blatantly not.

Whilst on the subject of "annoying camera angles", never really liked the "Ass-cam" (forward looking cam mounted behind riders seat)used in motorbike racing, nothing more distracting from the action than a chaps derriere bouncing up and down on your tv screen :-/
