No that's bullshit, that's fucking bullshit. There's no reason for this last lap shit and its almost every fucking plate race now.

I thought myself what exactly would those "heroes" do if he really was hurt. They are not doctors. Theres absolutely nothing they could have done.

Other than that, I don't see the problem. The fence did its job and prevented the car and large heavy parts from getting through the fence. Some small stuff got through the fence because its a fence, not a solid wall.

I would rather look through a fence with a very small chance of injury than sit behind a solid thick plexiglass wall with zero chance of injury.

I call this Acceptable Risk.

In the old days, drivers (and the world in general) were willing to take extreme risks. Now everyone is scared. If you are a racing driver and you are concerned about death and serious injury, you are in the wrong business. I am all for safety improvements, but up to a certain point. I draw the line at sacrificing entertainment for safety. Hell, if Nascar is really concerned about safety, they can shut down tomorrow. Close all the tracks. Then no one can get hurt. That is ridiculous though.

If a driver or fan gets killed because of close racing at 200 mph, I find that acceptable. Because thats what the sport is. Lets just accept that not bitch for Nascar to slow down or not race as close because somebody might get hurt.

Now there are other things Nascar does that are completely unacceptable. Its 2015 and Nascar still does not have its own dedicated traveling safety like CART had in the 90's. They are still relying on local yokels to provide medical attention. They certainly have the money to change this but are choosing not to. Greed perhaps.

Oh, and Austin Dillon needs to stop doing this...
