I like my Daytona covered in bright Florida sun rather than the white light of metal halide fixtures.

Sadly, the duels will never go back to daytime unless it is moved to a Saturday because I'm sure the ratings for these prime time races will be pretty good.

Not if you attend in person and the race takes place in the middle of the day.

NASCAR fans have dealt with this just fine for decades. I understand it is hot but that is what sunscreen and beer is for. Let's not go all covered grandstands retractable roof tennis here.

It must have been at least 95 degrees plus whatever absurd amount of humidity when we went in July two years ago. I didn't care, it was Daytona and it was the only place I wanted to be at that time.

I've been going to Daytona since 1999… I haven't missed a single race other than the trucks in 2005.

The duels, 125's… whatever, they've had bigger crowds than the Nationwide race on Saturday, even this passed year. Thursday in the middle of the day or not, the fans showed up.

I've been to the 500 and the 400.... As much fun as the Daytona 500 was, I very much enjoyed sitting in the stands at night for the 400.

Been to the 400 (2007, the one where McMurray beat Kyle Busch by inches). Aside from that, the only thing I remember was how much of a nightmare it was leaving afterwards. Spent almost 3 hours just waiting for the shuttle buses to show up and take us back to the parking lot some 2 miles away.

Hiking it would've been faster, in hindsight.

I don't remember it being that long at all in 2001 for the Firecracker. But that was the race that Junior won and it being the first race at Daytona since Dale Sr. died, nobody was in a hurry to leave that night I guess.

Are they still holding it on the backstretch? Should just use the tri oval and pit road.

I think it is on the backstretch this season, but I'm pretty sure part of the Daytona masterplan is to remove the backstretch stands so who knows where this event will end up in the future. I'm assuming, of course, that NASCAR will decide holding the event with no live crowd is a bad idea.

I could see them moving it to between T4 and the trioval

The scrutineers inspecting the restrictor plate sizes certainly seemed to have rushed out early, tbh

jajajajajajajajaja

They should move it to New Smyrna

Problem with that is I doubt the TV network will want to send more equipment and people to a second location. I'm sure they have a big say.

Hoping for a good ARCA race this year. Of course my hopes aren't very high, but hey you never know...

I think it's the strongest ARCA field in years, at Daytona at least. Lot's of story lines to follow as well.

Unfortunately someone will probably noob it up and take out half the field before we get any good racing. Like Leilani Munter.
