If a driver gets selected for his nationality then I assume the nationality of the investors is of more importance than that of the team principle or technical director.

Well who's excited for it anyway?

You may go "Yay! History!" or "Yay! Fans!" or "Yay! Maggots!", but the truth is that the track looks more and more like a flat-ass Tilkedrome, and rarely produces decent action except when rain or religious freaks get in the way.

Brands Hatch please

Might be able to get away with that with these new engines.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Retire from F1. It's not like he'll vanish from all of motorsports.

Not sure the residents would be too pleased when their gardens have to become run off areas for the GP loop. :p

Remember, this is what Brands Hatch could have been in 2002

That version of Brands would been fine if it wasn't destroying the existing track in the process.

Which one? The original, or the chicane?

First time I went through the chicane, I was like, what idiot designed this?
Second lap, yehaaaa!!!

That track layout owns.

At a first glance, yes.

When you visualize it with bulldozed surroundings, and miles of painted tarmac runoffs like the current new Silverstone section, it sucks.

I'm not a fan of gymkhana. Not to start the old discussion about safety vs. tradition again, but if it's only about following a set of painted lines on a carpark, it starts losing its appeal to me no matter how interesting the layout is driving-wise.

The Brands Hatch redesign of the early nineties had more character than what Foulston attempted for 2002, and that design barely used any of the original track.

You mean the one that tuned left at Clearways and went up over where the campsite was near Scratchers Lane?

I hope Palmer never finds those plans tucked down the back of a filing cabinet...

Yes that one. It was terrible but not sterile like Foulton's plans. And yes, let's hope the Dr never sees it.

Palmer is the definition of irony. He no longer practices his trade but still likes to sterilise things.

and they are only being tested for aesthetic purposes. Fucks sake F1, talk about prioritizing the real issues

I don't think they want them purely for the aesthetic's as its something they have been pushing for since they entered F1. It was one of the things Michelin wanted if they had won the tyre deal & I'm pretty sure it was something Bridgestone also asked for at one point.

I think the reason Pirelli highlighted the aesthetic's in that article is because one of the reasons F1 has been reluctant to introduce larger tyres is because its argued that larger tyres would not look good on the cars & Pirelli want to prove that isn't the case.

There's also the concern from teams with regards to the weight & cost as teams will have to redesign there front suspension setups to cope with the increased size, weight & smaller tyre sidewall which would mean less tyre flex.

I think 18" tyres look good on some Mock-ups I've seen so im interested to see how they look in reality:
