Not really actually. I'm not really into WEC atm and as VAG owns both Audi and Porsche I actually expected them to "borrow" a lot from Audi instead of spending big amounts of cash on technology that's already available within the VAG concern. :o

The average Joe only sees the name on the results sheet.

No, it really DOES have a lot of rebadging. I posted the more obvious ones, Alpine, Morgan and Caterham, but Fish88 has posted even more. WEC has more rebadging than any other series. Porsche never crossed with Audi in development, but there's a lot of "sticker engineering" in WEC, especially in P2.

How can anyone think there is no re-badging going on in WEC?

How many times has a team re-badged the MG-Lola over the years, or the various iterations of those Lola Chassis?

The DeltaWing was originally a re-badged AMR-One.

Well, the DW did actually undergo development work, it was just the same chassis. But the Alpine for example is identical. It has had no development thus far, and is just a badge.

Fish88, the plus side is, since you collect Aston models, the AMR-Ones are ridiculous cheap. :P £110 goes at least as low as £75 :P

The model version probably traveled further than the race car (and at least reaches it's intended destination).

I was referring to the joking part as I assumed it was pointed at me... :beard:

Monday night at 20:30 on BBC1 - 'Bernie Ecclestone: Lies, Bribes and Formula One'

Quote:
Bernie Ecclestone has dominated Formula One motor racing for forty years and made billions from the sport. But two courts say he paid a $44m bribe, a judge recently concluded that it was 'impossible to regard him as a reliable or truthful witness', and he may have avoided a billion pounds of UK tax. Panorama's Darragh Macintyre investigates the truth about the boss of F1, Bernie Ecclestone, and asks why he is still in charge.

Quote:
So a shift away from the current complicated brake ducts - that are being used more and more for aerodynamic benefit - will also make sure the concepts bring back the visual impact of glowing brake discs.

Furthermore, the discussions about active suspension have also prompted debate over whether the system's return can help create a way of making cars spark once again - just as they did up until the early 1990s.

The spectacular sparks, which were caused by titanium plates rubbing on the ground, became non-existent when underfloor planks were introduced during 1994 to stop teams running their cars too close to the ground for aerodynamic benefit.

As well as potential aerodynamic tweaks to create vapour trails, other more wide-sweeping changes to the sport are also up for discussion.

They include standing starts after safety cars, a potential reduction in race length, and the green light for higher technology to be used in pitstops to cut the time even further.

Yes because a lack of sparks, glowing brake ducts & vapour trails is all thats wrong with F1.

Standing starts after the SC, Why?
Shorter races, F**k off!
More technology in pit stops, Meh?

How about focusing on what actually needs fixing? Making the cars more able to race closely, Better distribution of the vast amounts of cash which F1 rakes in, Ensuring larger/heavier drivers are not penalized & having to starve themselfs to meet the weight limits.

This sounds like one of those plans where everything is so ludicrous that the least ludicrous thing becomes accepted.

Which is what usually happens.

Like the split rear wing idea.
