I'm on fire.

And so is the Lotus.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

No-one doubts that the RB10 has a good lap time in it, but try doing that for more than 10 laps without it going kaput.

I presume that's written in binary.

They did 19 laps this afternoon...

Strategy group has voted against Double points for the final 3 rounds, Sadly keeping it in place for Abu-Dhabi.

It's simply unthinkable that RB10, the car itself(propeller apart), wouldn't be at least among the fastest cars, if not the class of the field.

The fact that all Renault cars had a somewhat decent amount of laps today, albeit still half of the Mercedeses and Ferraris, is quite a relief tbh. For anybody who really likes the sport, it's awesome to have Red Bull, Lotus, STR and hopefully Caterham in the mix. Their previous non-entity state was not good for anybody

PS: add to all that, apparently, STR recorded the fastest speed at s/f line today(300kmh)

Noticed that the Ferrari has gained a small wiglet on the back of the roll bar. Thought they were banned?

How many at that sort of pace?

It's also clear that most of the teams have dedicated this week's running to race sims and in the case of Mercedes to running the car as long as it will go until it dies. It is progress, and good progress for Renault and Red Bull to have done a lap with all the bits switched on, but in context they are still 30km\h down in the speed traps (vs. Mercedes' best last week) and 2 seconds a lap slower (vs. the fastest lap in Bahrain so far).

Strategy group has approved changes to qualifying.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/112707
Quote:
The proposed revisions featured drivers starting races on their Q2 tyres rather than Q3 rubber, extra tyres being provided for Q3 only, and Q1 being reduced from 20 to 18 minutes with Q3 lengthened to 12 minutes so that drivers can all complete two runs.

Changes to Q1/3 session length seems a bit pointless, I don't recall there been a situation with teams struggling to do 2 runs in Q3 when it's been 10mins.

Also forcing drivers to start the race on the Q2 tyres just takes away the reason the rule was put in to begin with which was to try & encourage some varying strategy between the front runners & mid-field. Everyone usually runs on the softer compound in Q2 which means that most the field will now start on soft's rather than some just out side top 10 going for an off strategy.

If there so desperate to see all 10 cars run in Q3 despite the fact we won't see them all on TV anyway, Just take away the rule forcing anybody to start on the tyres they qualify on & give everyone in Q3 2 brand new sets of soft's. Simple!

common sense is not on their agenda, otherwise they would bring back the 1 hour qualifying

The tyre warmers will have Pirelli sponsorship on them this year & as a result of that commercial deal Pirelli will be offering teams a one fifth reduction in the yearly tyre bill.

Was apparently one of the last things FOTA did before it shut down.

Glad they were focusing on the really important stuff.

Great, now get them banned for 2015 please.

I don't know what's worse - Red Bull 2014 or Honda 2007. At least the 2007 Honda was reliable.

You don't know because you cannot compare them yet, as the season is still a few weeks away.

I'm still worried Red Bull will arrive at Melbourne raping the field , the horror.

If Renault have the same max power as Mercedes, I would bet on RB10 as the fastest car. Not in Melbourne, perhaps, as they have almost no setup work and aero parts testing due to poor reliability. But my guess is that their pure car potential is higher than any other.

But, I came here to post this: Rosberg predicts 230mph (368 kmh) in China

I guess he have that info from the simulator :8:

Also, it seems Alonso hit 340kmh today:

If this all confirms, we'll have record breaking speed in Monza this year :D

Well Pirelli need to find something to subsidize so they can provide more tyres to make drivers run in quali 3.

The mind boggles.

Is this truly a serious question?

Honda in 2007 for a start weren't 4 time consecutive driver and constructor champions.

The lack of sense you make at times is hilarious.
