There's a pretty simple solution to those who don't like the shape or the sounds....don't watch it!

Turbos are still better than those awful off throttle blowing sounds from 2011.

However, nothing can ever compare to to the V10's, even in this rev reduced form.

I still think Ferrari's last V12 sounded better, but this is pretty glorious.

This sound is a disgrace and an offence to the name Formula 1 and to its history.
As for sound importance, someone mentioned it is not really important. Well, just to give you an example, try to go to Monza on Lesmo 1 and listen to a f1 V10 or V8 passing by and compare it to this..this is like Hulkenberg said a DTM car in the shape of a Formula 1.

Are you erasing half of the 80s from F1's history, then? The sound isn't new. Also, why Lesmo 1? Surely all you'll hear there is a car shifting down and scrabbling through the corner - that isn't going to sound much different anyway!

Well, that was, during tests before Monza gp, the only chance i had to hear the f1 sound as close as you can hear it. There was a fence which we used to jump(there were no marshalls in that zone during private tests) and we were like 3-4 meters from the kerb.
It's not like i'm not going to watch f1 anymore, at the end i always do, but the passion that moved me back in the V10 era will never come back and that is mostly due to this engine restrictions

What is the boost of the 2014 engines? I'd assume it was something like 1.5 or 2 bar but I could be way off.

I know these test days don't mean anything but every time I look at the timings, McLaren is 1 faster than the 2nd fastest car at that moment.

I wouldn't mind having them at the top again!

No YOU got a lump in your throat.

Seriously though, the relief in his little interview yesterday was palpable. Saying there is 'nothing scary' about the car is about as positive a start as McLaren can hope for after last year.

From autosport.com: "11:01 A smoking RB10 is parked out on track. Ricciardo makes a quick exit, and then inspects the rear of his car."

It seems like a really bad start for them and also for Renault at all.

If the Red Bull is indeed not the best car, this season we'll finally see how good Vettel really is.

well, if there is supposed to be any dominance this season, I prefer it not to be Red Bull...

Renault really justifying their $30 million a year fee for their customers at the moment.

Surely an enterprise like Mclaren can convince sponsors in another way?
But you might be right.
