If you've been out, here's what happened in testing today

tl;dr - Button fastest, Mercedes rack up miles.

I wonder if Red Bull were expecting to have managed more laps than they have done thus far. I know they'll still probably roll into Melbourne with the best package, but it's not exactly a great start for them.

So Toro Rosso, Caterham and Red Bull all had problems with their engine or ERS? That's bad...

Interesting McLaren Rear End.

They are actually the rear wishbones. Very interesting - according to Gary Anderson, McLaren have sidestepped the ban on the lower rear wing elements by shaping the suspension in such a way that it blocks the air coming off the back of the sidepods, which then creates a low pressure area to accelerate the air coming out of the diffuser. He also suspects that they will separate at speed due to deflection, which will reduce drag.

This could be a talking point - McLaren will say it is legal because shaped suspension arms are allowed, but I wonder if the other teams will agree if it proves to be advantageous.

I love this kind of engineering sneakiness. The bastards will go find and fill the deepest regulation loopholes.

(regarding the McLaren back end).

No, i'm 99% sure a certain amount of flex has always been allowed. It is the suspension, after all. The loophole is precisely that - they aren't 'movable aerodynamic devices', so aren't 'wings' in the common sense. Aero-profiled suspension arms have been around for a long time now, and it's ok as long as it doesn't take the form of a shroud.

I'd put my Force India nose in Ms. McKenzie.

These cars sound like the cars that are already doing their warm-up laps when you arrive at the race track at 8.30 in the morning, and you give them a quick but unimpressed look when you are walking to a good spot or waiting for the big guys to come out. In my personal experience, the walk from Les Combes to Eau Rouge.
