Part of that is because there's pretty much 5 established front running teams now, rather than 2 or 3 in the past.

At this rate, one of the Force India's could be up there.

Kind of mixed conditions possible now. Hmm. Still not think the grid will be anything unusual, these days chance of having small teams (like Benetton or Jordon occasionally did) in front is nearly zero.

The three phase qualy system makes that much less likely to happen....it has to be just wet or dry enough to allow a small team to just change to the right tyres to get an advantage and take the pole......three times over the course of one hour.
Sadly weather isnt likely to let that happen

It can help Marussia or Caterham into Q2 but that's about it.

What's the most mixed up grid we've had under the Q1-2-3 system thanks to weather or general lottery?

I thought that, or Brazil 2009/Malaysia 2010 (even though we had a Red Bull pole).

Ted Kravitz just said that Bahrain is expected to be the opening race of 2014 (Due to the final test taking place there).

Also expected that 2014 will feature 21 races with New Jersey & Russia coming onto the schedule.

Yes, AMuS reporting the same. Bahrain on March 2nd. First pre-season test at Jerez on January 21st. One test might take place at either Abu Dhabi or Qatar.

With the new engines there will be a lot of blow up's so Bahrain seems logical.
