I just realized that the Indycar finale is on August 30th and the inaugural race of Formula E race is on September 14th, I bet that means some IndyCar drivers will be competing in this series? Does anyone know if this scheduling was done on purpose?

August 30th is very, very early for such a big racing series to end. We don't know about drivers yet, but given that at least 2 Indycar teams are involved in Formula E, this might be the case. They'll never tell us for sure, but I don't recall an Indycar season ending that early, so it definitely sounds "suspicious".

I thought IndyCar is ending their season on Labor Day weekend because FOOOOOTTTTBBBBAAAAAWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLL

Yeah, I know, it's stupid.

According to Autosport this drivers want to compete:

Sebastien Buemi
Karun Chandhok
Lucas di Grassi
Tonio Liuzzi
Takuma Sato
Marco Andretti
Adrien Tambay
Ma Qing Hua

That's a nice start! Reminds me of Superleage and A1GP though, and we all know how those ended...

the good thing about these series is: it is on the news! Unlike any other feeder series...

At least in my country it was an item on the national news, and even on the youth national news. My daughters were suddenly yelling: "dad dad your cars on on tv" :p

It was shown as being the 'electric' equivalent for F1...

how many teams (obligatory to have two cars per team?) have already signed up?

I like how this series seems to be gaining momentum. Reminds me of A1GP in a way, but then again, it doesn't at all.

All the slots are taken up. (10 x 2)

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Corrected

The person holding the camera needs to be given a shake. I wasn't sure whether I was supposed to be watching the Formula E car or the group of people stood in that middle section.

That was a horrible representation of a burnout because clearly the car in question has very little torque.

Here's a better burnout by an electric car video (shot in Los Angeles):

Drivers who have expressed an interest so far, as per Autosport:

Daniel Abt (GER)
Christijan Albers (NLD)
Marco Andretti (USA)
Sebastien Bourdais (FRA)
Sebastien Buemi (CHE)
Karun Chandhok (IND)
Lucas di Grassi (BRA)
JR Hildebrand (USA)
Ma Qing Hua (CHN)
Narain Karthikeyan (IND)
Vitantonio Liuzzi (ITA)
Franck Montagny (FRA)
Takuma Sato (JPN)
Bruno Senna (BRA)
Oriol Servia (ESP)
Adrien Tambay (FRA)

Good line-up so far tbh. Distinct lack of British drivers there, though I'm guessing Sato and possibly Montagny will be with Super Aguri, Andretti with Andretti, Ma with China Racing, Abt with Abt, and one or both of Karthikeyan and Chandhok with Mahindra. Also wouldn't be a stretch to see Di Grassi back with Virgin

That list was actually put together by the series itself.
Now that we’ve announced all 10 teams, everyone is keen to find out who the drivers will be. Of course, we cannot confirm any drivers just yet as it will be down to the individual teams to select who fills their seats. However, we hope by offering them a ‘pool’ of top international drivers to choose from – all of whom support the new series – we can deliver on this promise of providing close, entertaining racing in city-centres around the world.

Formula E's Beijing circuit has been unveiled - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/112885

4 chicanes and everything else is 90 degree left or 90 degree right. The shape of things to come?

Maybe it can work with these cars.

It's obvious they're designing circuits to take in landmarks and to hell with the prospects of actual racing.

The London circuit will probably take in the London Eye and the Houses of Parliment and not get any speed about 50mph in all likelyhood
