So the backmarkers will have their grid penalties spread over many races

Chilton would never have fulfiled it >.<

Only for one further event if it's related to the power units.

A few drivers already do it, some subtly, or in places that we can't see them anyway.

Remember that 'visible' in F1 terms means that they can make it as microscopically small as possible.

If you can get your head around the penalty system...

Can't wait for the new 2015 rules where they have set rules on how big the numbers have to be, with drivers getting a 5 place grid penalty if it's a few millimetres too small

Driver number-watch (because it'll beat the rest of you moaning about the 'good old days' all winter);

-Drivers have been asked to make 3 preferences.

-Perez' first preference is #11.

-Rosberg's three preferences are #5, #6 and #9.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I wonder if this Bahrain tyre test is going to include some night testing. Considering the track's just installed lights and the race will be at night, it would be a good chance to test it.

Have you watched WEC couple of weeks ago? The installed lights are nowhere near what is enough for a F1 car

I think it's not very far to the point where I won't follow F1 as I did basically most part of my life

F1 Numberwang does seem like a decent winter distraction.

The Italian media are suggesting Alonso will go for 14 (karting number) and Raikkonen 7 (2013 number)

I'm at peace with this now. It wouldn't even bother me if Vettel chose not to run with 1 - before they introduced the numbering system in 1973, it was pretty random and the champion wouldn't always get 1, and even after the changes Peterson was the first driver to run with it due to Stewart's retirement. The helmet restrictions are a bit ridiculous and a potential slippery slope but not a deal-breaker

I bet it won't make a difference with the number on the helmet, unless they stipulate it must be at least X cm by Y cm (which wouldn't be a surprise!)

Raikkonen also won his title in 2007 so that could be another reason.

The main thing with the numbers is they could do with extending it into GP2/GP3 to build up the iconic aspect of it - like Marc Marquez being #93 all the way through, not just in MotoGP. It'll take a while for drivers to become associated with numbers as well so I hope the likes of Magnussen/Kvyat end up with their own wanted number as they're the ones who'll actually be associated properly with a number.

I'm pretty sure Vettel will run with #1 though.

Reckon both Hamilton and Button would have the #22 as a second or third choice.

Massa is #19

Which would have been his 2014 number under the old system.

wonder if someone would pick anything high like >30

My picks would be 87 (my online # back in the days and the year Operation Ivy started), 36 (Scott Radinsky's number in baseball) or 69
