Motors TV will only be showing a half an hour highlights show of today's British GT races, while BRDC F4 gets an hour :slaphead: .

May not be their fault if that's all British GT are offering them. I was always suprised the organisers went to the effort of producing 30 min highlights for Channel 4 and 1 hour highlights for Motors, guess they've decided to stop doing that.

It's odd. All of the coverage of that package is produced by Hayfisher, BGT is the biggest series on it with the most racing action to show, yet its coverage is the same length as VW Cup. What makes even less sense is that the rest of the season will be shown live.

The decisions people make sometimes :? .

Even better is that they announced their "be a commentator" competition again (which in no way was a "brand new commentator learns the ropes with us" as it was advertised, more "We can trick established commentators to work for us for free!" budget saving measure)
at Autosport, took 100s and 100s of entries and have now gone so silent about it people are getting suspicious

It's not like any potential commentator might like to have been at Oulton Park researching/practicing or whatnot....

I talked to both the commentator (he's about 12 bless him, was thrown completely in the deep end with little assistance, show up, there's a mic, off you go) and the motors tv presenter who now does stuff for Formula Kart Stars...., neither were very complimentary about their experience.

Mind you, this is just the production company using Motors TV's name....

Good luck when they go live, guys! :whistling:

I'm in the safety car at Silverstone this weekend for the Blancpain Endurance Series and supports. I don't think ill be pedalling the safety car for the main race as Blancpain have their own dedicated driver, however I should be the controller for the main race and driving for the support races.

That should be an interesting experience. What guidance are you given for driving the SC - do you drive quite conservatively or will you be expected to be pushing on as much as you can?

Just out of interest do you get paid or is the experience beneficial anyway?

I've done a few before, clubby local events in a people carrier. You kind of have to take the rough with the smooth, take some shit events in shit cars and then you'll be rewarded with a big meet. You constantly have the race director in your ear and they will tell you what speed to drive. It can be pretty hairy sometimes. I did the Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone last year and when it started rainig between races they sent me out to drive as quick as i could to gauge the conditions.

If you get called you will typically drive at 70/80mph constant round the track, then when you get the call to turn the lights off you need to get into the pits as quick as you can.

Some series are paid, some are just expenses, will see when I get there.

Can I just say, that that is really, really cool. How did you manage to get into driving the Safety Cars?
