I can't tell you my sources (He's very high up, but didn't tell me too much), but it was Black Tuesday down at Panther. I was supposed to go to lunch with said individual then to the shop, and was told "Not today"...

Actually, could that mean Servia in the #4 then?

Hildebrand got fired from the team, I believe.

As for who takes over, I’ve seen people say it isn’t Servia replacing him, and Ryan Briscoe is listed as one of the other candidates.

Well Hildebrand has not had the most competant of seasons so far. Had he done better I'd agree with you.

Crashing at Indy on the last turn to victory in 2011 certainly didn't do any favors, along with his incident with Power at St. Pete this year.

Crashing early at Indy this year was the last straw.

Contract issues might actually keep Servia out of the seat for Detroit, but what would DRR have to gain by doing that?

Well, crashing at T1 on lap 4 of the 2013 Indy 500 was probably the straw that broke the camels back.

I have a feeling crashing in T1 at Indy this year was the straw that broke the camels back and pushed him over the edge.

Hildebrand said that it was the team's decision to run that setup and he wasn't comfortable with it at all. So, the Indy fiasco should be pinned on Barnes and not anyone else. However Hildebrand's career has stalled since his rookie season and I don't think he could have really improved at Panther. This being said, a lack of teammate has really cost him and Barnes was never the most patient of guys when going got tough. Totally unlike Fisher & Newgarden combo. With a National Guard backing it's a real disgrace the team never sniffed a victory apart from the Indy races when it was more to the drivers rather than team to perform.

At the moment Gaara and I do seem to have the knack of posting almost identical thoughts.

Certainly, especially as Townsend had a good race and Servia was Servia.

Nothing against Briscoe, but not having Servia in a seat is just making me want to hurt someone...

Oh dear, I can see those WSB Sports Zone presenters from Atlanta not being too happy about this. An American team, sponsored by an American institution, dumping a young American for a driver who "ain't from around these here parts".

Contractual reasons, but like I said, don't know what DRR has to gain by holding onto him. Especially if they're no longer running.
