Glad I caught the last lap as it was entertaining to see Lopez coming up close to the Race 2 win. I need to download the races somewhere or will Eurosport show the races again?

They are already up on Youtube. Just search for WTCC and filter it for today or this week. Hey presto!

now as they are a support race at the 24H Rennen, should they try to go to Le Mans as well? would be a Citroen fest though

Not a proper world championship if you don't go to Australia.

Bathurst during the 12 Hour weekend would be pretty cool :)

I agree that seeing it before judging it would be ideal but... does the WTCC née motorsport world in general need any other gimmicks? Can't we get back to simple racing that's not influenced by some contrived aspect? What would be awesome would be TT based WTCC, 2 hour or more races whereby teams would employ 2 or more drivers per car with 3 cars per works team. Seeing Muller, Loeb and Lopez sharing a car would be immense and is the true meaning of racing as a team.

Nothing wrong with a bit of outside the box thinking.

Sometimes that brings us football team based championship (that managed to obscure the great racing in its series with a bone headed concept) and other times you get "hey. ..why not try and have a motor race around the city centre/airport/that big fuckoff mountain/coventry ring road (yep, that's happening  )

I'd like to see it but only on tracks like monza/nurburging/spa where you get a hell of a tow.
And since its replacing the warm up on race mornings it's not like we're going to miss out on anything either.

It's better to try hard to bring us something new and original than just do the same thing in the same way as everyone else and expect to stand out from the crowd somehow.

i assume they could end their STCC program for WTCC, knowing that they have won almost everything in STCC in recent years.

they are the only team that are taking STCC seriously these days! When Volvo Polestar leaves, there will be nothing left. They pushed more than anyone else in getting these current utter failure of a formula in place - over the old S2000 formula - and now they are (allegedly) planning for a WTCC return? That's just mean.

was really nice to see these car´s on the nordschleife.
but with only 17 cars it was a bit to little for the spectators around the track.
they should race together with another touring car series like btcc or etcc.

but made really fun to watch it, hopefully next year again

they were planning to join in 2012 but none of their models fitted the TC2 regulations, afaik they wanted to use the V40 but they considered it would be to big and the C30 only had a special permission for 2011. the new TC1 rules fit volvo's models a lot better and i guess that's why Volvo (Polestar) is intrested in joining WTCC (again). from what i heard they are planning to enter a TC1 car based on the S60. we'll know more soon...

IIRC, another arguement they chose not to follow up in WTCC 2012 was that it wouldn't be politically correct after their strategy with STCC/TTA.

The WTCC is an unique formula so I can't see another series racing together to make up the numbers at the Nordschleife.
