hey, Nissan and Aston Martin should team up for an even more underwhelming LMP1 program!

aston still had a worse one though

The car may have been worse, but Aston did give it up pretty quickly after LM. Nissan kept spouting shit about it, saying how good it will be and trying to spin every setback as a positive. The whole Nissan thing has been a farce, even after Cox left.

Maybe old Peugeot board is now Nismo board?

The original d'wing was actually very good. Once it got into Don Panoz's hands is where it went downhill.

It was pretty uncomplicated at least. The farcical aspects of it was how they said how cutting-edge it was supposed to be. At the same time, it shows how fast technology have advanced in racing cars these last 4 years. Nothing of that original car can be said to be cutting-edge today.

Pity, was great seeing new ideas put into place but they really were trying to reinvent the wheel with a cube.

meh, i tend to not care what the people in charge have to say re: "cutting edge" and just let the product show itself on the track.

the original d'wing would have been pretty neat if it stayed with the same backers and people in 2013.

I know, not sure what he's doing now though. Hopefully staying away from PR.

Sad to see the Nissan go. Easily my fave car at Le Mans.

Gotta hope Toyota can get their act together and beat Porsche and Audi.

Can we have 1999 back please?

Most employees were on holiday at the time, and according to one team source, those attempting to enter the building found access codes had changed and were locked out.
Program leaders Ben Bowlby and Chris Mower were then tasked with calling each employee directly as many, according to a source, were not monitoring work email and learned about their firings via the Internet.

Classy stuff from Nissan there. Can't say I'm overly surprised though, everything they've done with this has been a shit show.

leave FWD to touring cars and some low class rally cars. LMP1 should be outrageous power on rear wheels

I like a lot Nissan race cars (specially the 90's touring cars and the GT-Rs), but when they started that delta wing obsession they became rubbish

So... any idea if Nissan has given up for a foreseeable future, or if they've just given up for "the moment"? Would a return in 2017 or 2018 be on the cards?

There was an official comment that "decision has not been made" (http://autosport.com/news/report.php/id/122324) but if the whole shop is fired (nea's post previously) then it looks like so...
