He's not paying him what he would of made in Nascar running in 20th every week. That is an obvious fact.

Juan made roughly $4,760,404 for Chip in 2012 with only 2 top 10s and mostly finishes outside the top 15.

If he wins Indy and the Championship in 2014 he MIGHT come close to that number for Roger.

Race winnings sure, he will get trounced. But his salary from Penske compared to his other options?

It would be rather pathetic if one would chose to run 20th all year over having the best seat in the greatest race in the world. If you would do that, you couldn't call yourself a racing driver, you would have to call yourself a complete asshat.

Oh come on! The race has long been unworthy of that title.

Well then.....
Quote:
NASCAR has been looking at new technical rules to tweak the cars for 2014. A mid-December test at Charlotte Motor Speedway, yet another NASCAR test there, should help set things. NASCAR is now expected to bring the 'tapered spacer' to the Cup series, to try to take 90 horsepower out of these 900 horsepower engines. NASCAR has tested a roof 'wicker,' running left-to-right, designed to disturb the air; that design was used some 10 years ago, briefly, but it appears the sanctioning body is rejecting that change. NASCAR will be using larger rear spoilers next season. And NASCAR is expected to add some holes in the rear bumpers, to vent under-car air flow

The tapered spacer hasn't made the busch series any more competitive... but I guess we'll see how it goes.

Maybe it'll be different with higher HP engines?..... probably not. I wish they went with the wicker at least on the larger tracks. Even bigger spoiler? wtf

But with even less passing?

With the Cup and Busch engines at the same compression, how much of a difference in horsepower is there between the two by now?

More power is the answer NASCAR, not less. :(

FFS Nascar. And here I was thinking you were being serious in trying to make the racing better. The cars have WAY TOO MUCH DOWNFORCE!! It's not a HP issue. They all run through the CORNERS at the same speed. Now they still will be running through the corners at the same speed, just barely slower. What ever happend to the bigger tire they tested a few years ago? I heard that test went well. Get rid of the splitter and shark fin, get rid of the bump stops so air actually goes under the cars. Let them have as much HP as they can engineer. Thats only good for the straighaways. It's the way the cars get through the corners that is the problem. Oh, deciding not to re-introduce something(roof wicker)that proved to make the racing better even after it was tested again was a retarded move NASCAR, but that seems to be the only type of decisions you make anymore....
