David Newton says it was a racial slur.

If I had it guess, it was directed towards Kyle Larson?

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but ballast is mandated on cars so that the car + driver weight is identical across the field regardless of driver size. Been that way since '97 or so.

Definitely wasn't that way in Indycar until a few years ago.

Having more ballast = more leeway with weight distribution.

Nemechek is claiming he won't start and park in Cup any more. Will believe that when I see it.

Maybe he's at that point where he doesn't have to do it anymore. He was honest and said that his S&P Cup effort was to fund his Nationwide team. So if that's the case and he won't S&P anymore, great for Joe.

I hope so but with a motor that went south not even 5 laps into Daytona, that's not a decision he'll be making.

True but they would likely end up putting it on the left (where the driver already is anyway), so even that advantage would be reduced (though not completely cancelled) as well.

Apparently, Clements referred to the cars as being "nigger rigged." The comment was made to a MTV Blogger.

I thought it was somewhat common knowledge.

Didn't know there was a max to the ballast added, sorry about that. Still, sounds like she's not the only driver out there that gains from that.

Suspended indefinitely for one remark but others have DUI's and massively speeding but yet nothing.

Does seem a bit extreme in the circumstances. If that's the sort of thing you say in casual conversation it marks you out as a bit of a moron but NASCAR's response seems a bit odd.

Well said. Pathetic decision from NASCAR. Really pathetic.
