Does anyone know if it's mandatory to take the lapped cars out of order and let them catch up in a red flag situation like this or is that completely up to race control in every instance?

Good win for Verstappen, nice podium for Norris. Undeserved podium for Hamilton, completely aided by charity rules.

In the rules, like at Mugello last year and any SC restart.

Race wasn't great considering the rain, had some classic Imola no passing possibilities.

I didn't realise Liberty were trialing their 2 race format today

Race 1 (wet) was much better than race 2 (dry) tbh

About Bottas, most of the time these years he's been somewhere between 2 to 4 tenths a lap behind Hamilton. Mercedes dominance hid this since there weren't cars to be between them. But this year, Red Bull's second seat appears to have a more competitive driver and Ferrari and McLaren are showing they can split the Mercedes.

It's not that the gap between Hamilton and Bottas is getting bigger, but it can be magnified this year.

great race but they shouldn't had DRS today, oldschool tracks must make it harder to get ahead, specially if the car behind is a Mercedes

Yes, but not this weekend.

Why wasn´t it a standing restart? (I didn't Read the whole thread yet) last year it was always the case after a red flag, did they change the rules for this year? I liked those standing restarts.

But great race, better than China. Just keep it like this please F1. Start in Melbourne, then Bahrain and the classic European season. China did have some good races but its more exciting seeing cars around a proper race track. Even the drs was good. Just powerful enough

The more I'm watching the Bottas Russel Incident, the more I think Bottas is at fault. Insanely dangerous to move to the middle of the track there. No one als has done this today.

No further action on the Bottas/Russell incident. Bottas left enough space and didn't do any significant manouvers and George hit a damp patch.

Toto his interview about the incident is pretty spicy: https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/wolff ... a/6332943/

Maybe I'm just reading too much in to this but he seems to be annoyed by how annoyed Russell is for not getting the 2nd Merc seat.

I know Bottas technically left a car width but you're playing with fire defending like that. Can't help but feel there's some truth to what Russell said - "would he have defended like that against a different driver" (paraphrasing)

Bit bizarre for Wolff to be throwing his own driver under the bus like that. If I was Russell, and Toto wasn't my only way into the Mercedes, I'd be looking for a new manager. Toto's barking up the wrong tree anyway though, he should be questioning why he's paying Bottas to get overtaken by a Williams in the first place, not why the Williams is overtaking him

To be fair he made a snarky comment about that too.

What did he do? There was so much happening during the race that I missed it completely.

Correct decision imho.
Pleasantly surprised they look at the incident itself and not the outcome.
