I can't say government money is in the cards, but the fact is the leader of the consortium has been in meetings with both Witzel (Rio governor) and Bolsonaro, providing regular updates. So, there is a sponsorship of these governments, but I don't dare to say what kind of sponsorship is this. And I don't even want to know, so that I don't get even more pissed.

And this sponsorship doesn't need to be money. Political influence to move past all the legal hurdles the project has been facing is very worth it if we think well.

This surely has to be one of the lamest excuses given to firing somebody right?

"We fired him because of um.....because.....um.....COVID! Yes that's right. We fired him because of the COVID"

Yep. I caused covid to make ferrari reconsider vettel, because if he couldn't be trusted to obey team orders he probably won't listen to orders to obey lockdown and would probably infect the entire team with the rona

Or something like that anyway

I've moved it onto Max for this year because to do it now for Vettel seems like kicking a man when he's down tbh :8:

That's fucking hilarious. Clearly caught off-guard and scrambling after Vettel's candid comments on Thursday. That the best excuse he could come up with? And then going as far as to question Vettel needing to prove himself? Appears that he was basically lying to Vettel and the general public back in that pre-season testing interview about Vettel being their number one choice to re-sign. They were already pursuing Sainz well before that. Binotto is a good representation of everything that's currently wrong with Ferrari management, not to mention being bit of a slimeball. And now trying to blame the drop in performance purely due to aerodynamics. It's no wonder Wolff can't bear to listen to him anymore. I can't see Binotto lasting past this season...

Using the lockdown as an excuse for not to offer a deal in the age of Zoom and Internet is ridiculous. It's very hard to take seriously someone who comes up with this.

Yeah, it's not hard to say "he made too many mistakes, didn't obey team orders and we wanted someone younger who was cheaper and a team player"

Just be honest man don't make up such shit lol

If I was Vettel right now I'd be counting myself lucky, hopeless team who couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery and just spent $400m making their car a second slower. I'd be on the phone to Racing Point

Pretty much like Penske in 1995, after they took away the Mercedes 500I and they were bumped

Not to stick up for Binotto, who is clearly getting fired this year, but that's not really what has happened. I think the idea is Leclerc's probably had a massive pay increase and Ferrari can't really afford two expensive drivers due to the current economic crisis caused by covid, so Vettel would have been expected to take a pay cut. While Vettel says he wasn't made an offer, it's hard to imagine that they hadn't talked about it at all to understand what his expectation was

Every team will be affected by this crisis, even Ferrari. It's noticeable that there's no Mission Winnow branding on the Ferrari this year

During the race today it was mentioned China has a serious intention to host a race this year. And not only that, they expect the race to have audience attending to it.

If true I can see him get into Daniel's car before the season is over.

Assuming it happens, I really don't see what Alonso has to gain with this. The prospect of him tooling around in a shitbox of a Renault doesn't interest me in the slightest

The team radios after half a season might be the most promising thing about it
