The need for a helicopter is strange rule. I don't think, for example WRC, needs to have helicopter available. First of all, the stages are in the middle of nowhere. And the roads are twisty and in poor conditions. How can WRC tolerate that an injured driver or spectator in an accident can't get help easily?

I suspect the FIA is being a lot stricter about the helicopter since Bianchi's death when the helicopter wasn't available (regardless of whether it would have made much difference).

Less practice usually means a good race, at least a mixed up grid as some drivers won't have the perfect setup. Still sucks for the fans at the track today and me for getting up early for nothing

So if there's fog and mist on Sunday (probably not, most of the bad weather will have cleared by noon), they can't run the race?

IIRC that rule has been around much longer.

Maybe the difference between WRC and F1 is culture and overall publicity. Each F1 race is live on tv around the world. WRC mostly has highlights I think. The impact of a driver dying in F1 is therefor greater

Nooo, Sunday was going to be perfect. F1 in the morning, Paris-Roubaix in the afternoon, MotoGP during dinner, and Indycar in the evening.
Now I will have to sleep late.

If the conditions don't allow for racing on Sunday, then they will reschedule to the saturday at that point.

Gizza job, FIA :metal:

Monday as well, because they have to leave to Bahrain.

They can't postpone to Monday since the freight has to get to Bahrain. Can't imagine the Chinese being pleased if the race got canned because of weather.
