I was looking up some useless information again and found the following useless fact

Of all WDC's Schumacher also has the most time between his first and last title. First was 1994 and last was 2004. Thats 10 years. Followed by Prost (8 years 1985 & 1993) and Fangio (6 years 1951 & 1957).

Hamilton can beat this if he becomes WDC in 2019.

Lauda - 1975, 1977, 1984.
Jack Brabham - 1959, 1960, 1966.

Lauda should be up there somewhere with 1975-1984, or does it not count because he had an interrupted career? Jack Brabham was 59-66 as well.

Man, I need to go back to get my glasses fixed. Been going over the list multiple times. Not the first time this week I misread stuff.
Lauda comes in 2nd. Brabham ties with Fangio in 4th

Sky got exclusive access to the FIA stewards room during FP1 at Suzuka & got to have a quick look at what they have available to them when making decisions.

I know it won't happen but would be cool if STR put Alex Rossi in the car. It's probably going to be a one off for whoever gets the the drive so why not put an American driver in for the American Gp. He also has fairly recent F1 experience which none of the Red Bull backed drivers been talked bout have.

Mike Thackwell is often seen as a wasted NZ talent, placed in the wrong place in the wrong time

about the stewards, thought their room was more like the teams control room, several screens and lots of people connected by radio or so. No wonder they take so many bad decisions

He's had personal backing from Red Bull this entire time and I believe he got on very well with Helmut Marko which tbh is one of the reasons I think he was kept on with the junior squad for quite a while when his results weren't too flash, but I think one of the big reasons he's possibly getting the drive is that Red Bull don't really have many drivers who are Super License eligible, but yea, NZ is going through a golden age the likes of which we haven't seen since Bruce, Denny and Chris were doing their stuff, Nick Cassidy looks set to take the Japanese Super GT title, Brendon and Earl are reigning Le Mans 24 champs and look set to take the WEC crown, Marcus Armstrong is doing very well in F4 in Europe, there's Shane, Scott & Fabian in V8's with Richie most likely to join them at the pointy end and of course then there's Scott Dixon (worthy mentions to Mitch Evans, Hayden Paddon, Chris Van Der Drift & Will Bamber), not bad for a small island with half the population of London down in the South Pacific :p

Not bad indeed. Because of the size of the country and racing chances, we here in Finland often compare our achievements to New Zealand's. It's almost impossible how both nations on nearly opposite sides of the planet have contributed so much for motorsports pinnacle series F1 and WRC.

I hope Harley does a good job and gets to drive the remaining season next to Gasly. Nothing against Kvyat, but I think his career took similar path as Heikki Kovalainen's. Both very likeable personalities but nice doesn't get you to places in F1 world obviously. Wrong place at the wrong time and both kinda lost their sharper edge when got over shadowed by their team mates Ricciardo and Hamilton. And everyone can probably agree that those two are some very talented teammates to compete against.

Why a champion in a premier class world championship when they could have an F2 midfielder? I mean, after you've spent a few years in F2, you're entitled to a seat in F1! Just look at Jolyon Palmer. Someone like Roberto Mehri or Sergio Canamasas is much more deserving, IMO.

Massa is suffering from Barrichello syndrome, just don't want to let go

at least Barrichello was way better in development and setup

Wonder what car number Hartley will pick? No doubt yet another really "original" number, one which has rarely been used in F1.

Nah I reckon either 4, 15 or 16 :-p

I guess we all knew Jenson was a bit of a pussy, but this statement does reflect badly on F1 as a whole :D

Always makes me chuckle when someone says they won't do something because 'people die doing that' but are quiet happy to do something else that had statically an almost identical fatality rate for the same period, just because a person died six months after an accident doesn't cancel it out.

well he can also die by crashing his bike during a triathlon but I guess he doesn't think about that

When something unusual (good or bad) happens, I always remember this Robin Williams movie moment.

I don't think anyone really thought of the chance of having Button in Indy. He never showed the balls needed to race wheel-to-wheel at 215 mph.

There are drivers that are too safe and boring, others too aggresive. IndyCar need drivers that sit somewhere in the middle.

Button should just go touring racing.
