Look on the bright side. This is the last time you'll have to worry about getting her.

I do like onboards on RP races

Lets ride with Brad:

Interesting thing I noticed at 30:21, he cuts his engine once they get to the caution flag, and coasts around to the pace car. I can understand the fuel saving benefits but didn't think that'd be that important in the Clash, certainly not more than the risk the engine won't refire.

[edit]He does it after taking the chequers as well, they must really want to save that engine.

I've not seen too many other onboards, but I think it's fairly standard practice in NASCAR these days.
They must be pretty damn sure about it refiring so the benefit outweighs whatever negligible risk

I'm surprised they don't try it when they're being bump drafted too

Can they learn from FOM and have info available on screen while not being in the way of the action?

I don't know why they had to "improve" the original top ticker in the first place, there was nothing wrong with it.

And fuck having more information on screen, I can barely read what there is there before it changes, that's what timing screens are for numbnuts.

I actually hated the top ticker as I had to wait forever for all 40 names to roll by before I could see where a certain driver was AND made worse by the ticker vanishing every time they did a segway to commercial. And it too took up a huge amount of real estate on the top of the screen as well. Combined with the bottom ticker, it made for extremely narrow vision where just a bit over half the height of the screen was actually left for the track footage.

I've never really minded having to wait for a few moments for the ticker to scroll by if I wanted to see where a specific driver was. I care more about seeing the on-track action than I care about seeing the numbers. That's one reason why I complain about grass and gravel being paved over and complain about ugly cars and ugly tracks no matter what racing series I'm watching -- I really enjoy the visual element of watching cool cars pushing the limit on cool looking tracks. Having a big ticket take away a significant portion of the screen impacts my ability to see that. That's a serious problem for me and really hurts my enjoyment of the race, even if I do have more info available.

Trucks seem pretty quick this year. Rhodes was fastest in second practice with a lap a little under 193 mph. That's a draft speed, of course.
