Best of luck, zippy!

Does that truck belong to one of the teams, or are you a family run entry? I haven't followed the trucks for quite a while, but it'll be cool if you have something half competitive.

Went down a YouTube rabbit hole of watching crashes a few minutes ago, then doing some searching on basal skull fractures (particularly drivers who actually survived them). I wound up reading this interesting Ed Hinton article and noticed something kind of ominous: the dateline of the article is 2/13/2001 (five days before Earnhardt died of the injury).

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2001 ... igan-state

Total random stuff, I know. It's just that I don't recall ever reading or learning anything about that injury until all the fallout following Earnhardt's death. So I found it very interesting that such a detailed article was written about it just before his wreck.

There were a lot of warnings before that though, particularly the spate of deaths in the late-90s like Irwin, Petty, etc that NASCAR chose to ignore and kept allowing drivers to run without HANS or even a full-face helmet like in Earnhardt's case. Just like with Senna, took a big name's death to finally make the changes.

Some people still race with open face helmets, notably in rallying :8:

NASCAR's issue back then was the same thing that was happening to the modifieds in the 80's. They got to building the cars front clips too strong and then didn't absorb the impact enough. Couple that with what you mentioned at it was a recipe for disaster that cost several drivers their lives before they wised up. Don't forget Blaise Alexander and another ARCA driver at Atlanta whose name escapes me who hammered the barriers with the right front and succumb to the same injuries as Roper, Irwin, Petty and Earnhardt.

Chad Coleman was the ARCA driver who died in Atlanta.

Budweiser released a very nice tribute to Dale Junior the other day.

Something is off about it tho. If you look closely, the #8 is blurred out. The name "Dale Earnhardt", referring to Sr, is not mentioned and his face is almost blurred out.

Fucking Teresa.

Kaz Grala is moving to the Xfinity Series, driving for JGL Racing (#24 and the #28 before it was shuttered due to sponsorship). The team is switching to Ford in 2018.
