So that Truck Series is looking weaker and weaker by the day. They seriously need to cut costs and change the series's identity if they want it to survive.

The only thing that I would miss from the Truck Series would be Eldora.

Time to stack the schedule with short tracks and a few RCs or this series will die.

Just remove Kyle Busch from the roster. Audience will double.

As usual, in a lot of the comments around the web, there's a Toyota hate about them taking over the series soon but imho that's on Chevy and moreover Ford for not supporting the series enough, if it comes to that.

It always bugged me that so many people rip Toyota for having a large truck count in the Truck Series but Ford is basically non existent and Chevy seems like they're just there to be there. I really hope Dodge comes back and runs the Ram again. Pete Pistone made an excellent point, this series was created to bridge that gap from local short track racing to NASCAR's top national tours. They keep shooting themselves in the foot with the series but every solution they come up with is just another bullet in the gun.

I'd love to see Dodge back. They fund most of the NASCAR Canada series teams afaik and maybe they could atleast return to the truck series if not Cup. As for Pete Pistone's point, I totally agree. Would like to see NXS go away and trucks be the bridge between K&N/ARCA and Cup.

I think the problem with trucks and NXS can partly be the effectively "support series" status it has, I'm rewatching early 2000s cup and its so often the trucks and Busch series is racing elsewhere. Make them the headline act at smaller/dirt/different/road courses rather than just a side show.

According to Claire B Lang of SiriusXM, Matt Crafton recieved only $15,000 for winning Eldora. Compare that to Christopher Bell's $37,273 in 2015, the last year race purses were publicly released.

The higher the sanctioning fees the lower the purse, correct? I remember hearing on the radio, maybe Larry Mac, saying that NASCAR needs to lower the damn sanctioning fees so these short tracks can afford to run truck or Xfinity races.

That's down right depressing, especially given the insane costs to run in the Truck Series, and the costs of the equipment required to run in that series. Not too surprising though considering it's NASCAR.

Quote:
He's referring to Dale Jr. and Jimmie Johnson, who supported removing the Confederate flag from the South Carolina State House after white supremacist Dylann Roof murdered nine people at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston in 2015.

Dale Jr. also spoke out against Trump’s immigration ban back in January. He most recently tweeted “Hatred, bigotry, & racism should have no place in this great country. Spread love,” after the white supremacist and Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Va. where a white supremacist killed a woman, Heather Heyer, with his car when he deliberately plowed into the crowd.

“It’s sad and frustrating to see what happened,” Dale Jr said at his Thursday press conference. “And you feel sort of somewhat responsible to speak on it.”

Dale Jr.’s statements didn’t come across that brave to me when I first heard them. They seemed more like human decency than anything bold or divisive. But as I stand here talking to Jim among the multiple RVs flying Confederate flags, it's somewhat impressive Dale Jr. said anything at all.

I didnt know jr did this but good on him for speaking about it

Quote:
All of a sudden I hear a voice in my ear scream, “ARE YOU PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN?”

I whip around to find a guy wearing a DRUNK LIVES MATTER T-shirt bending down so that his face is level with mine, about three inches away. He’s holding a big black flag that has both the NASCAR and Monster Energy logos splashed across it. I recoil and don’t say anything.

He responds to my silence with, “You should be.” Then he drapes the flag around my shoulders and puts his hand on my back.

“Stop it; what are you doing?” I say, swatting the flag and his hand away and jumping back so quickly that I almost fall over onto three shirtless, middle-aged men in front of me. Flag Guy stares directly into my eyes. He shakes the NASCAR logo in my face.

“You just got baptized by the greatest thing this country has,” he says.

also, lol

Chase Elliott will be switching to the #9 next year and William Byron will take the #24. HMS will continue to hold the rights to the 5 which will not be used as they do with the 25.

Whoa we actually agree on something...

In all seriousness, next thing you know, he'll probably want to buy Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap and Tazewell Speedway also. (2 awesome dirt tracks in the area)

As long as it keeps the fairgrounds from being torn down and turned into a soccer stadium, I'm for it.
