The coverage could go two ways. As it's an official TCR series it could have live online streaming, on the other hand it's also a BRSCC series, meaning it could only have highlights a couple of weeks after the event.

As far as entries are concerned, it'll probably attract the same kinds of people who race the cars in Britcar and Creventic, with more serious entries appearing in the second or third year.

I doubt it'll hurt the BTCC much. A new series with lower performing cars isn't going to draw people away from an established championship with 60 years of history and prestige behind it.

Having said that, Lotti thinks the entry will be of a similar size to that of Germany.

If it got that level it'd be full of terrible drivers so crashfests galore...

Jonathan Ashman has said they're committed to live streaming, so it'll be one of three outcomes: they get a decent budget from sponsors and entry fees and employ Hayfisher and/or SRO to produce it, they stick it on the British GT package and piggyback on that coverage, or they go with the cheapest production company available (like they do with the rest of their stuff) who have equipment to do live broadcasts but not the required skills.

How important are production values to viewers generally? Will it make any difference to the perception and popularity of the championship if the coverage is good or not?

That point raises another interesting question. Where is it going to race? BTCC is clearly a no-go and there's no room there anyway unless a series gets dropped and as far as I'm aware, British GT's timetable it also full with the support series having multi-year contracts. It raises the question of where it's going to race. It really needs to be on one of those two packages for it to be a success, but right now I don't see it happening.

Quote:
With the MSA sign-off out of the way, the focus now turns to the programme for 2018 and the sporting calendar, with the BRSCC and SRO’s British GT package one of the many options available.

“We’re looking into more detail with the BRSCC at what the calendar would be and who we’d be with. The first part really was to get through the MSA Race Championship Control Panel. We had to get through this first before we did too much, as they had the theoretical power to say no.

“British GT is one of the routes to go. We could go in with another package (like that) which already exists, or we could go off and get in a new package and do it that way.”

“We obviously want to make sure they don’t clash with BTCC weekends, because for teams, they may wish to run in both, and so they wouldn’t want to have a clash as that would be difficult for personnel.”

TCR Germany lucky not to have a bigger startline crash.

After a few laps behind the SC, they red flag the race

Didn't think that would be big enough to hurt a driver. Up comes the green tarp as they attend to a driver.

No idea who it was (think he finished 10th but cannot pronounce his name), but one of the Audi's finished with damaged rear suspension
