Seems like a very clear statement of intent. I don't think any team has ever come from that far back to start winning races in the same season, right? Certainly not since the days of full-time test teams.

The thing is, he seems very committed to F1 even now - makes you wonder who has been sending him nice emails. Ferrari seems most likely, but I'm not sure he would want to have Seb as a team mate.

Red Bull could quite easily lose both their drivers.

Ricciardo to Ferrari (maybe Perez as well)
Verstappen to Mercedes

Vettel stays
Kimi retires or goes somewhere like STR, Sauber, Renault, Haas

Alonso to Red Bull
Sainz, Bottas or Perez to Red Bull

Kyvat - buy a seat elsewhere, maybe Haas?

Amazing, where do you get your information? Your head?

Alright I am starting to really crack the shits at Pirelli now. I have been defending them the whole time they have been in F1 but these tyres are an absolute joke. The softest tyre in the range can last more than half a race distance? Apart from changing tyre pressures they haven't developed these tyres at all.

Oh we don't have testing so can't experiment with the tyres...Bullshit. The reams and reams of data they have they can know what they can do. If they can't then they are incompetent. I've just had enough of them now.

I agree.

I also don't understand why every tire compound is referred to as "-soft". Why can't they just make them "hard, medium, soft"? That makes more sense. Or is that another example of "regressing and going backwards", just like re-introducing V8, V10, and V12s would be.

I'm still for using soft, medium and hard. And have all 3 compounds exactly the same each weekend and available. And drivers can use whatever they want. NO mandatory pitstops.
Want to try to go all the way with hard? go ahead! Want to try a 5-stopper on soft? Be my guest.

Sure, but the differences in tires need to be much more.

To be honest, the hardest compound should be the only one able to last the whole race distance. With steady performance, at least

order hard racing tires from Bridgestone and soft compounds from Michelin. Mediuns would be responsability from Goodyear

TIL that Nigel Mansell kept his Grand Prix Masters car:

I'll assume it is in excellent condition given the 2-and-a-bit races that it managed.

God!! I always loved that the late 80's, early 90's Ferrari's had proper red, black wings and leather like brown look for the seats.

I'm fairly sure the seats were actually lined with tan suede (Edit: actually alcantara, I think) :metal:

And yes, no excuse for not bringing black wings back - they are great for setting logos against, if nothing else. Plus McLaren managed to bring orange back.

Daily Mail reporting a switch to Mercedes PU for McLaren in 2018.

For UK members: Is the DM a reliable source?

they were displaying one of those in Ferrari museum in Maranello, I was stunned, had even Marlboro decals

I had to touch the car even though it was forbidden to do so :p

Can you imagine Alonso jumping ship, and then McLaren being competitive next season? The chassis is pretty good. With a better engine, it's possible that they'd be somewhere close to Red Bull, if not better.
