Pretty sad as this will make it alot harder for the track to reopen down the road (closed / for sale currently)

I know nothing about finance in the USA, but would a for-sale property still need to be insured? I guess either it'll be harder to find a buyer, or someone is going to get a bargain.

CARS Tour has their season opener today at Concord. They are just barely going to get the race in today it appears, as this area is supposed to get some rain and snow tonight.

http://wavy.com/2017/04/02/police-respo ... orts-park/

Quote:
Authorities from Dinwiddie and Petersburg confirm that a shooting happened at the Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie County during the 2nd Annual Spring Fest event. Dinwiddie authorities could confirm if anyone was shot, but did say two people suffered flesh wounds. Both of them have been treated and released from the hospital. Dinwiddie representatives clarified that the shooting created a “mass panic” situation as the estimated 10,000-12,000 people tried to flee the scene. Authorities said that shots were fired in multiple locations throughout the motorsports park and that vehicles in the area were also shot.

Police said that one pedestrian was hit near the park trying to flee the event and that multiple crashes occurred along Route 1 that the Virginia State Police are handling. Authorities said that they don’t know how many shooters were involved. They also said that no suspect is currently in custody.

They confirmed that a “mayday call” for assistance was made, which prompted responses from many surrounding police forces, including Petersburg, Chesterfield, Hopewell and Virginia ABC. According to the Virginia Motorsports Park website, there was supposed to be a bike rally, a car show and a musical performance from Lil Boosie and others.

Glad to hear that track is back open, thought I heard a rumor about it reopening last fall.

Safe to say Bristol is the most intense track I've ever been around. I thought Daytona put a high load on your body but this place blows it out of the water. Never felt like my eyes were going to get sucked out of my head until yesterday.

Super Lates are running .3 off the Cup track record. :o

Had to share some video from my last practice. :metal:

Would've loved to go to the Short Track Nationals, but $25 tomorrow and $35 Sunday is just a little too steep for tickets in my opinion. Good luck Zippy.

Spotters? Caution flags? The ability to see far up to spot a wreck from a distance? Nope, nope, and a giant NOPE

they had a similar wreck in the Street Stocks in practice, spotters aren't allowed in that division apparently.

That's on the race director. Should've been screaming over the one way to back it down and where the wreck was.

That's inexcusable.

Was there actually any good racing at Bristol, or was it just a junk factory all weekend long? Because that's the impression I'm getting from my FB feed.

That's what Bristol fans want though. I didn't go, but sounds like what fans wanted to pay for the steep ticket prices this weekend got what they wanted.

That's just Larry Wight being his usual overaggressive self, he's got a lot of talent, but he does some dumb stuff like that all the time, fortunately, for him, his dad owns Brewerton and Fulton, so he probably won't have to ever sit out a week. I will say, however, that they will black flag him, even though his dad owns the tracks, so it's not blatant favoritism.
