@codename_47, I have no problem at all with people that likes artificialities in racing. I don't like any of them but it's just purely a matter of taste/opinion

What I really find odd is how selective some people are with the artificialities. What I mean is, a guy doesn't mind the use of SC but moans about the Chase system, which is just, in the championship, what the SC is during a race, ie, the Chase bunchs up the top drivers, points wise, so that nobody opens a confortable lead or you see competitors spread out.

Also, if one likes a particular gimmick, because it subjectively brings "entertainment", why mind things like standing restarts(which is not even an artificial thing, by itself), inverted grids, double points final races and etc?

NASCAR exists in its own special category in my head of "doing whatever the fuck it can to get bums on seats"
The stuff they admit to like the chase, format etc is nothing compared to the stuff just under the surface like faking yellow flags for a closer finish (just come out and admit it guys....you won't let a race stay green, we get it. The caution clock is B.S but at least it's honest B.S), giving their most popular drivers "special" restrictor plates or not disqualifying blatant cheating because it got a PR friendly driver a good result, etc.

So yeah, as bad as some things are, they could be worse.

BTCC just about has it right imo, it wears its need for entertainment on its sleeve but still feels like proper motorsport without too much eye-rolling levels of manipulation (Unless you're Plato then you get your own rule set :p )

These slogans that FOM come up with are so cringeworthy and, at times, patronising.

"Baku welcomed us."
"Well done Baku."
"Herbie, what will we do without you?"
"They did their best."

I wouldn't be surprised to see "Aww, bless him." appear on the screen after the first retirement in Australia.

Bloody hell.

the actual slogan should have been "More blessed than the blessed"

dunno if they would place hashtags on that

Even "They gave their best" would have been better.

Anybody with ties to Ron is on the chopping block, regardless of their performance.

Wonder if that includes Alonso?

Stop picking on Mclaren, they are doing their best.

Jokes aside, I'm lost with things but I learned reading here that Ron Dennis is out now(for whatever reason it was), wouldn't it be much better for Mclaren to get rid of useless Honda? I know the Japs put quite some money into the team but their engine is almost like a guaranteed massive handicap.

I heard some people say the engine development is gonna be free again this year(don't know the actual ruling, tbh) but that could lead to Honda being even more of a joke

They entered later into this "game", I can't fathom just how could they come up with a PU that is so bad when they already knew the hands of their rivals.

Even without following F1, I still came across, from time to time, with viral memes of Alonso alongside the track watching the action because his car let him down again.

The original Honda PU was reportedly great, just McLaren insisted on it being smaller which required a redesign and things went downhill from there, Honda, like Merc, Renault, Ferrari etc. is also locked in with FOM and won't be going anywhere.

Max Mosley has expressed concern about the racing under the new rules, saying he would have personally gone for much less aero and more mechanical grip.

Max Mosley said that. Max 'grooves' Mosley.

he's trying to create that regret feeling by stating "it was crap when I ruled, but now is worse"

I read a few articles on that and that's a myth. It was Honda who went all in, not McLaren asking them to.

Meh McLaren were already shit for quite a while before Honda came on board. It'd be really interesting though to see how the Mercedes would perform with a honda in it though.

I think you can look to Red Bull in 2015 for a similar example of great car, shit engine
