he wasnt contesting a position with another driver. there is a difference


He gained a bunch of time and clearance from the rest of the field. By your logic, drivers could just cut corners willy-nilly as long as they aren't alongside another competitor.

All this proves is that the FIA has a precedent for being stupid about the issue.

Yeaa, gaining an advantage is gaining an advantage.

Rosberg could have taken the corner but that would have probably caused issues. He was forced off by the contact with Max, Hamilton was saving his tyres.
