Here is some great news from Matt Tifft. He Tweeted this out this morning.

Quote:
As announced I will not need to undergo any treatment and my docs have medically cleared me back to racing, will test late model on Sunday!

Sounds like his return isn't far off.

So, that's going to leave possibly Richmond if he's cleared to make the Chase. Might as well take the rest of the season off.

Yeah I agree. Just get healthy and let Bowman finish out the season. Rather see that than Gordon.

Yeah, I'm not 100% liking Gordon doing this. I would have liked Bowman to get a more honest shot because he deserves it, and I would have *liked* for Jeff's retirement to actually mean staying retired, but BREAKING NEWS, racers like to race. :(

It's the dreaded Mark Martin retirement. Let's see if this lasts for another decade.

Precisely what I was hoping wouldn't happen. He didn't get to ride off into the sunset with a championship, but he was able to end it the way Jeff Gordon always did it - by taking a car that couldn't finish in the top 10 and bringing it home in 6th. That would have been an okay way to end it, but noooooo.

Need more Rusty Wallace retirements and less Mark Martin/Terry Labonte/Bill Elliott retirements.

Personally I think there's more dignity in occasionally running the races you're interested in for teams you actually like than there is in becoming another TV talking head preaching the greatness of NASCAR, but that's just me. Going with Gordon over Bowman is probably Hendrick's/the sponsor's call, and it's not like anyone including Gordon would turn that down.

I agree but I think the point is that when Rusty retired he was still competitive and when he stepped away he stayed away (from the car.)

Tony Stewart went to Twitter to voice his thoughts on the Colin Kaepernick controversy. The responses went as well as you'd expect:
