The most simple improvement is (as I said before) just go back to 2015 for q1 and Q2, and then have a superpole shootout for the top 10. We will get some mixed up grids, yesterday Hamilton made a mistake and would have been p4 instead of on pole if he only had 1 attempt. And we get to see every lap of the top 10 drivers in full, not just see them cross the finish line one by one like FOM just shows now.

Why does qualifying have to be exciting? It's just a session to decide who will start where. The real show was and is on Sunday. Qualifying worked for 50 odd years and the last 16 or so they must fuck things up
If the show on Sunday sucks fix that but don't do it with some artificial shit.

I guess that things started changing when they begun to broadcast the timed sessions, they want to put out a show

you can see that in early 80's they just made reports on qualifying on evening news, then they started broadcasting because it was so cool to see Senna, Mansell and others sweeping the corners on the limit using qualifying tires

today they want randomness but not like in an entertainment, so they come up with crap solutions, with things that are so easy to solve, but apparently common sense is forbidden on the paddock

they could use the Q1 and Q2 format used until last year and in the Q3 give the 8 remaining drivers a shot with a ultra super soft tire to sweep away track record and see who is the fastest in one shot

What does it solve to go back? It wouldn't change anything. Nada. That is the only thing they are doing right.

So the current one is better than the old one? They're not doing anything right because they can't agree on anything either and by doing so, everyone's stuck with the crap we have now.

It's not worse. Just because it might be confusing for some, doesn't make it worse.

Let's recap. They invented this to increase unpredictability? In what universe does it help to go back?

I don't think it's confusing. At least I haven't found that element yet.

First, why do we need unpredictability? QLF actually means the fastest man is on pole, no? Second, I think the current system is even more predictable than the old one. If the countdown is running for one driver, you very often can already tell the next man who'll be eliminated and I call this boring not unpredictability.

I busted my brother along the similar lines of what Scotty said Snyder did. He had a VHS of Pulp Fiction, I snuck into his room to watch it but it turned out to be the porno Pulp Friction....needless to say I liked my brothers version better haha.

Needless to say I think the original version is better. Just like with F1 qualifying.

Don't understand the need to make everything super exciting. I liked the old hour long twelve lap quali sessions.

As Brundle keeps saying there looking at the wrong thing. You can do whatever you want with qualifying & mix up the grid as much as you want But if the cars can't race then it solves nothing.

The best way to 'Improve the show' is to come up with a set of regulations that produce cars that can race wheel to wheel & overtake without needing gimmicks. If you have Lewis starting 8th instead of 1st but because of the way the cars are designed he can't get close to the car/s ahead to attempt an overtake then I don't see that as really been any better than what we have now.
