It already happened more than once that a marshal slipped away or was really close to the oncoming traffic. It just seems dangerous to me, specifically considering how much emphasize they put on safety in every other regard.

Not a Spanish speaker here, but my understanding is that the "th" sound is prevalent in the Andalusia region in Spain. That's where Jerez is located, by the way.
