They put a second dirt race on the schedule and the teams with money will build a dirt specific truck, escalating the costs for a series all ready in a financial hole and exacerbating the gap between the have's and the have nots.

I clearly want another dirt race, but NASCAR has to be careful.

Today in "messed up lawsuits", a family waits until the anniversary of their son's death to file a lawsuit against a NASCAR driver.

Apparently Kevin Ward was going to be a future Nascar star and keep his family up, because from what I read, they're suing for all of the money that he was going to earn over his entire racing career.

New York law does not allow the Ward family to collect damages for their own pain and suffering but does allow parents to recover loss of expected future support and care that their child could have provided.

Kevin Conway was potentially a NASCAR driver too.

Wrong.

He'd be 8-time Cup champ.

He would have won every All-Star race until he retired as well, and his team would love him so much to let him have all the winnings. That's about $20 mill right there right?

Ryan Preece making his first Sprint Cup Series start for Tommy Baldwin Racing at New Hampshire in a 2nd car, it appears they will be running the #98 car that weekend instead of Premium Motorsports.

NASCAR looking at low downforce on most tracks for 2016. High downforce still possible (for Fontana, Indy, Michigan and Pocono) depending on how everyone feels after the next race at Michigan

The possibility of high DF for Indy/Pocono is dumb as fuck. Probably a shit idea for Michigan too but since it hasn't happened yet I guess that verdict is out. And for Fontana it's particularly absurd because of how much "character' that track already has.

I wish they would just use the low downforce package everywhere and stick to a rules package for more then 1 year. (doubt that will ever happen with any series anymore though)

NASCAR Wire Service reporting there is a possible chance that the Boot layout at Watkins Glen could be used soon.

But so far all the packages in recent years except the Kentucky one have been turds so sticking with them would have been akin to polishing turds.

It does seem like they will stick to this one for a while though.

I've always had a problem with this. All that comes to mind is polishing a turd. The packages they've had in recent years have all been highly aero-dependent turds and the Kentucky package was the first in years that had a glimmer of gold about it and that wouldn't have happened if they just stuck to the previous package for a while.

Have to agree on that thought for sure, I didn't think about it in that way.

I do have to wonder how much the teams (both big and small) are spending more due to the constant package changes though. I know Yates said something around $3 million on the engine side in attempts to find more horsepower after NASCAR added the tapered spacer (link to it should be a few pages back).
