So no Math-with-a-driver pictures this year :( We were not allowed to climb on the pitwall this year -_- But I saw Ericsson and Nasr walking on track, I shook hands with Sainz and Merhi and I shouted a "GOOD LUCK WILL !" to Stevens :)

Also, although that's not an actual TV channel, I've been interviewed by Formula One Communications, so I may appear in the Race Edit saying "I love Montréal !" Stay tuned lol :p

:Edit Things were happening so fast, this is me with Carlos Sainz less than a second after shaking hands with him :p

Not again. They still don't have two DRS detection points this year? I do hope it's an old map :P

The track guide on Formula1.com shows one detection zone :(

Yeah. I even believe the outside wall down there at turn 4 has seen more hits over the years than the champions wall.

Driving standards have improved over the years, they simply don't make as many errors now.

Also, the tarmac run off means they can just shoot across that, rather than having to turn in even if the braking is way out.

There slower than they were 10-12 years ago but there still faster than the cars of the late 90s & there still pretty much the fastest cars out there (Although the difference is smaller).

I think the reasons we see less mistakes now is because there not pushing as hard as they used to because of how much they have to nurse the tyres. If they were racing on the Bridgestones/Michelins we had in the past they would be pushing the limits more & i've seen suggestions that lap times would be 3-4 seconds faster.

Not Pirelli's fault of course, There just doing what they were told to.

The thing is, the cars aren't that much slower. The qualifying lap times aren't far off in the grand scheme. Racepace, however, is fucking slow. Fuel management and engine lifespan requirements absolutely kill the speed. The engines are limited to 15,000rpm - when last did we see a car hit anything about 12 or 13k? The engines have to last forever, so they run detuned. They only have a small amount of fuel they can use so they run them lean.

The engine regs are to blame for the lack of speed. Without them, the cars would not be slow.

Surprisingly, they have made no positive spin on the whole angle of "they're 98% as fast as before on so much less fuel"

Which was kinda the point of the whole regs.

Being positive doesn't happen, this is F1.

According to the BBC, it seems like tape that was applied on the pitlane. But I can't explain about the metal shards myself.
