They need to get rid of this tyre saving rubbish. There is absolutely no reason why a couple of short, sharp 25 minute touring car races should be as dull as a typical F1 race. After Barbagallo, I said the races were WTCC-esque, these ones were worse.

kinda of glad I missed last nights races then. They really need to open up the amount of sets a team can have.

That was a good battle between Mostert and Lowndes there.

The car is on the tire wall. That sucks big time for him.

Winterbottom wins. That wasn't a bad race.

V8 Supercars sign heads of agreement to hold championship race in Malaysia in 2016
FOX SPORTS
June 03, 2015 1:17PM
V8 Supercars set to race in Malaysia in 2016.

V8 SUPERCARS is poised for a return to Asia in 2016 with the category signing a heads of agreement to hold a street race in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.

If all goes to plan, V8 Supercars will be the headline act at the Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix, to be held on a 16-turn, 3.2 kilometre circuit that passes through the heart of the city and passes the iconic Petronas Towers.

A deputation of five cars, including Holden’s Craig Lowndes, Ford’s Chaz Mostert, and Volvo’s Scott McLaughlin, will head over to the inaugural event in August to perform exhibition laps as a test run for a full championship round in 2016.

The agreement was announced by V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton and KL City Grand Prix CEO M Arrasu at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

“We are absolutely delighted to begin this partnership with the KL City Grand Prix and be the first international racing series to participate at this spectacular event,” Warburton said.

“With a TV audience of hundreds of millions worldwide the KL City Grand Prix will be shining the spotlight squarely on the world’s best touring car Championship in one of the world’s greatest cities.

“This four-year contract is right for the KL City Grand Prix, right for our great V8 Supercars Championship and right for our race teams and right for our sponsors.

“Having four Championship races in Kuala Lumpur until 2019, in close reach of Australia and in a similar time zone for our fans are key ingredients.

“We would envisage that many fans would make their way to Kuala Lumpur to watch us race live on what will be one of the world’s most spectacular street tracks.”

Just looked at the layout of the track, looks pretty cool.

now only if V8SC could come back to the States again with a race weekend or 2, but that is very unlikely :(
(honestly the easiest track they could run it besides CoTA would be Indianapolis's roval with the pit garages already existing)

If V8's are gonna run in the US again, I reckon Sonoma Cup layout would be just about perfect. Not too big, not too small and the right style of corners for the cars (short radii, fairly open).

So, Malaysia has two perfectly good permanent tracks but Warburton decides to add yet another street circuit to the calendar... :slaphead:

Actually the story is that this event is already taking place for GT cars and other series' and V8's just decided to join the party.

Well, yes, but assuming all of this year's events remain on the calendar next year, there will be 7 events out of 16 on temporary circuits. I think that is too many.

A street circuit has to be better than the F1 Tilkedrome.
