Also, can you get a concussion from electrocution?

We are at the hospital. No confirmation of further tests.Alonso remains in intensive care so he can be monitored carefully without intrusion.

Perhaps... although we would have been told by now that he dumped it on the exit or something broke on the car or he was doing a Maldonado and not looking where he was going. But as far as I have seen nothing has been mentioned other than he had an accident.

Well maybe Alonso is ill and just wants his privacy and asked McLaren to state it's a concussion?

In testing, whenever there's an accident teams will shroud their cars in blankets so as to hide the car in it's entirety. Unless the driver made a mistake or the team knows absolutely for sure what happened, information on cause is not divulged.

But they're not telling the truth. A driver in intensive care isn't "normal". I'm not saying they should come out right now and tell the world exactly what happened, but pretending everything's fine and dandy seems a bit stupid

Maybe I missed something in the reports but where is it saying Alonso is in intensive care?

I was going from Tobias' post on the last page:

Could be wrong though in which case I take that back. Either way, I still don't think a driver in hospital under any circumstances is normal

There is just a lot unclear.

The internet probably blows things up 10fold but at the same time McLaren is downplaying things as well.

Let's throw in a proper conspiracy theory for Kals: Alonso found the McLaren and the Honda engine utter crap, didn't want to spend a year in that car and is now faking it...

(as all proper conspiracies I'm ignoring facts like that it could harm him in securing a deal with another team for 2016)

In other news. Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen where asked to draw Barcalona blind from their memory.
here's the result

edit2: here's an image of what likely happened during Alonso's crash. http://i.imgur.com/RyMoKtQ.jpg (big image so only link).

But it also says he's being released from hospital today.

What we should be focused upon is that intensive care is most likely an FIA medical and safety prerequisite because of the g-meter going off on impact and means nothing more than Alonso has more doctors checking on him more regularly than standard care. This is a good thing. It doesn't necessarily mean he's in a very bad way. The FIA / FOM / McLaren / Honda have a vested interest in the health of Alonso and the rest of the drivers.

From what I've seen since yesterday's accident, this has been nothing but a big case of Chinese whispers...

Those side impacts can hurt, from what I've seen mostly in old nascar crashes, as the car change direction more quickly, the concussion warning could be the real deal.

But still strange why he was slow, and other. Maybe he did pass out for any reason, and had a concussion afterwards.

I never knew drivers always get sedated before being airlifted.

I can understand that its better in some cases but from the official reports I doubt it was needed in this case. Then again, I'm no doctor.
