Even better idea, why not run an unlimited for each series, featuring pole sitters from Cup, Xfinity, and CWTS? Each get's there own non-points event on the same night.

Not saying that Winston and RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company are a great company for providing the products that they do and targeting people do to things that are bad for their health, but they sure loved advertising in motorsports. They had a great 30 year run with NASCAR and 27 years with NHRA. I think the sponsorship landscape these days are for short term gains. Coca-Cola has picked up NHRA since 2002, but have rebranded it from Powerade to Full Throttle to Mello Yello. NASCAR had NEXTEL and Sprint Cup, now something else again. Busch was with NASCAR for 25 years, then Nationwide, now Xfinity. Craftsman was with the truck series a while now Camping World. There just seems to be a big lack of stability and long term sponsorship these days. Part is the waining interest in the series, but I think a lot of it is the lack of advertising budget to throw around.

Already heard from some media members that Coca-Cola is lined up for 2017.

The only reason Winston stayed long as it did was because their product was such a guaranteed money maker no matter what the economic climate. Even when they left, it was because of the law, if I'm not mistaken. Otherwise they could have been onboard forever really. With any other type of company though, what's happened since Winston is the norm. Whoever comes in after Sprint will also bolt after a decade if that long. Every time there is a change in management, the first thing they do is re-evaluate these things. Sometimes they have the budget but would rather throw it elsewhere.

Even Craftsman wasn't there for that long and it had a far smaller budget too, sponsoring the trucks.

How neat would that be, just like Winston all over again, Sponsoring NASCAR and NHRA at the same time! Although they are up with NHRA in 2018 so that could be bad...

So after transitioning from lung cancer to brain cancer*, now we're moving on to diabetes?

*I'm aware of the studies that don't show a link between cell phone use and brain cancer but suspend that for the purpose of my joke.

Put them all on the track at the same time and I'm sold. :flag:

I thought the Busch Clash was a 'created for TV' special anyway. People being at the track to watch it was just a bonus.

Kurt Busch: I Can't Terrorize My Ex-GF, She's a Trained Assassin

Quote:
Kurt Busch's ex-girlfriend is in court to get a restraining order against him -- but the NASCAR driver is fighting back with what he says is proof she's a certified badass who couldn't possibly be afraid of him. Patricia Driscoll testified in a Dover, Delaware court Tuesday about Kurt's alleged attack on her after one of his races in September. As we've reported ... Driscoll claims he choked her inside his motorcoach. But sources close to Busch tell TMZ Sports his legal team has submitted a YouTube video of Driscoll as evidence. The video entitled "Pocket Commando" -- was posted earlier this year, and shows her at a gun range, showing off marksman skills and talking about the company she owns ... Frontline Defense Systems. Driscoll calls herself a "commando mommy" on the video ... which we're told was shot and edited to pitch her as a reality TV star. We're told Busch's attorneys will argue that Driscoll is a "trained assassin" who would have no reason to fear Busch. In fact, during Tuesday's hearing Busch's attorneys called her a "mercenary" out to ruin his career. Busch adamantly denies the attack.

http://www.tmz.com/2014/12/16/kurt-busc ... ny-nascar/

Speaking of Youtube videos, wonder if Driscoll attorneys will submit the hour long montage called, "Kurt Busch: Rageaholic" as evidence.

Doubt it because, even tho Kurt has a history of anger management issues, that video has absolutely nothing to do with the case on hand.

That being said, Driscoll sounds more like the crazy one than ol' Angry Kurt here...

Isn't it worth mentioning that their argument essentially relies on her marksman skills even though she was unarmed at the time of the alleged attack?

Is is worth pointing out the supposed reason for her delay in reporting the fight was because she was embroiled in a custody battle with the father of her son who was trying to petition a court for custody because she was allegedly an unfit parent and she didn't want it coming out because her legal team thought it would strengthen his case?

A little bat shit insane, unhinged and an inflated opinion of one's self worth? they seem like a perfect match for each other and I'm surprised one or the other wasn't sporting a black eye every race weekend.

I still wanna know why Marco decided to get himself involved (before deleting the tweets) back when this news first broke. Was it more than just sticking up for a fellow Andretti driver?

Could be or could be due to the fact he saw behind the scene things occur? Who really knows...
