intermediate: damp tarmac with no rain and light rain
full wets: wet tarmac with working drainage, light to medium

anything harder than that "the cars can't handle". Well, handling was ok in Monaco 84, Spa 97 and 98. Dunno why they bitch with weather. If there aren't any flood is ok to race

Exactly! Of course there are moments when it's impossible to drive, but in the last years they have been overreacting a lot about weather conditions, but there's a problem though. With the new rules that came way back in 2003 that banned the warmup session and you cannot change your car from Saturday to Sunday, the changes you can make in the setup for a wet track are much more limited now, so that's maybe one of the reasons why they have been so annoying about running in the wet. By the way, I remember back in the warmup times, if all the sessions, including warmup were run in dry conditions and then it started to rain, they should have a 30 minutes practice to adjust for rain conditions. It's incredible how much F1 has decreased in some issues, they improved safety in some ways, but decreased in others. I'm very worried about Sunday, the drivers haven't got any second of wet track and wont get all weekend long, only in Sunday. It will be very dangerous to come to the track with absolutelly no idea on how the cars will behave in the wet.

it wouldn't be a disaster to give 15 minutes to the teams to change the setup cars in case of rain

Exactly! That would be the most reasonable and safer thing to do, but unfortunatelly FIA is unreasonable and inflexible!

They should bring acclimatisation sessions back --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1zP0KJMoEs
It would be so easy to just allow additional session when needed, but no, making new rules and restrictions is considered progress while abandoning rules is no-no.

it's quite possible that they only do a few laps behind SC to count as a running event, then red flag it and award half points

that would be quite farcical

Which is what they did for the WEC race at Fuji last year.

This is the same FIA that had numerous options to avoid the Indy farce, instead they said fuck you to Michelin and then well, fucked themselves. Fear the same will happen here.

Yeah, mistakes are punished. Drivers can't just release the brake and floor it.

Elsewhere Grosjean would have just floored it but there he had to keep slowing.
