Limerock is an excellent track.

Outside Big Bend on the front stretch is the best in my opinion. If you pick your spot right, you can see some of the downhill, most of the front straight, the pits, Big Bend and some of the run up to the Esses.

Next is Specatator Hill located on the inside of the track behind the paddock overlooking Big Bend and the left that starts the run through the Esses. This is also a good spot, more shade and concessions/vendors are easily accessible.

Walking up the Esses and back straight provides some great vantage point, especially the big Oak by the chicane for the Uphill. This fills up fast and is difficult and annoying to sit at all day though.

Keep walking up the backside of the track and you get the the top of the Down Hill and the vehicle bridge for infield access. Go across that bridge, turn right and they've carved out a spot on the OUTISIDE of the downhill just past the bridge that you can view from. This is an awesome, ear splitting place to watch the cars strut their stuff through the downhill on the edge of disaster and gives you a really good impression of what lies in wait should a mistake be made.

I love Limerock. It's also only 45 minutes from my house so that helps. I just wish the big bore sports cars were coming back... Also wish they were running this on Memorial Day Monday so I could actually go. Busy on Saturday at another track.

Yep, best place to watch anything from there, imo. Anyone I take there new that's the first place I show them.

I'll be there Friday/Saturday.

They absolutely could run a split LMPC/GTD, P/GTLM event there, just like they did in the eighties and early nineties, when they had even less paddock space. Hell, some PWC teams were parked up on the butterfly last year during the ALMS weekend, LRP has big enough fields on the outside of the back straight and West Bend to hold every spectator that'll come through the doors, leaving the entire infield open for paddock if needed.

Bad news. Now ESM is the only American based team to use LMP2s.

Well yes, I remember some speculation in that sense by some journalists, but I don't remember any official statement by Muscle Milk.

I was referring to some comments from the "real prototypes RIP" people on forums. Now it doesn't sound like they'd be racing regardless of rules or series.

There had been a lot of talk that MM didn't get nearly as much Nismo support as they had assumed but no idea how true that is. Probably more likely that Pickett (he was paying for all of this out of his own pocket, remember) wasn't prepared to keep shoveling his money at something he couldn't win easily much like Level 5. If his team had been running a DP I don't think there would have been any different outcome.

I thnk I was quite delusional when I thought the USCC formula might have worked. It seems the DP teams have much more "political weight" tham LMP teams. And that's understandable: first off, it was an ALMS buyout by Grand-Am and not vice-versa and then LMP teams are mainly privateer efforts (except the farcical Mazda team), compared to the main DP teams with Chevy and Ford backing.
Bearing this in mind, it's obvious that running an LMP isn't the best option from a budget standpoint.
It's entirely possible (and understandable) that Muscle Milk realized they didn't have the resources to develop a competitive package with an all new car and opted out.

Yes, I'm very disappointed and I won't hide I'm part of the "real prototypes RIP" people :p . But that's the way things are heading in USCC, and from an economic investment point of view it makes absolute sense.

So yesterday I got to go down to Turner Motorsport for an open house they were hosting. Totally worth the trip! The entire shop floor was open so I got to see the GS and GTD cars being worked on and prepped for the next races. They also had an iRacing simulator set up of Lime Rock... which I was not very good at  . Still though it was an awesome couple of hours, really cool being able to see up close the workings of a operation like this!

An interview with Pruett never disappoints. A "hi to my family at home" randomly in the interview is never wrong.
