Evenstar's face was on a Red Bull in Silverstone 2007

apart from engine noise, at least we can now listen to tire squealing, would be nice to hear the bangs when crashes come up

Watched FP2 in the morning and I was never so disappointed seeing the cars for the first time on track. The sound is everything but Formula 1. Then I'm definitely the last person to complain how the cars look like but this year is not nice. The color in the timing tree is a good idea but just too many colors. So I figure lots of stuff to hopefully get used to fast :D

was this a reference to the Australian tv series?

The cars sound horrible from the onboards and from outside the low pitch is very good but unfortunately is not agressive/loud as I think F1 should be, so it's a bit meh to me.

I'm excited with it because everything is new and etc but as soon as things gets more banal, I will not be thrilled with the current cars. They are fucking crawling in the corners, it's just to slow for modern F1, imho.

Just my to cents, don't wanna throw water into anyone's beer, though.

*just throwing myself into the TBK member and F1 discussion*

Spa, FP2 2010. Watching (with a lot of others) the practice session from an area where spectators are usually not allowed (gate was open woops). Was fine until the end when it got more and more crowded so I moved even closer to the track. Some minutes later they threw the red because of spectators in a dangerous area.

So yeah, you could say I stopped a practice session. Beat that :p

Similar, Le Mans 2006. Outside of Indy. Fence was bent over. We all went over. Red flag to move us.

It's funny to see what we'll read in brazilian press after the first GP. Before the season start, everyone telling that Massa would win GPs, some even telling Massa was already the 2014 World Champion......

Now I want to see what they'll say when Massa get positions behind Valteri Bottas in P12, P13, P14 through the year....

From the Rev-counter on the OnBoard feed I didn't spot anyone doing more than about 12,000rpm. If they turn them up to get the full 15,000 for qualifying they should get a bit louder.

That's the thing, it's not economical to rev until 15,000 rpm. From what I#ve read in interviews drivers said that the power curve is very flat from about 11,000rpm onwards, so they shift earlier, which means we won't even get the maximum of 15,000 rpms. :(

Although I hope I'm wrong about this.

If they go fast enough: fuck them revs.

Someone's put together the logos of the driver numbers. One should be familiar!

Loved the sound from what I heard on the broadcasts. Deep, raw and whistling. Awesome. Cars look rather fast and tricky as well. Like it!

Lotus look like a shambles.

Regarding the sound, I quite like it. Yes its not as loud as what we have had before but I don't think that automatically makes it worse, Just different.

Sticking with the V8's or going to something like a V10 or V12 just to keep it loud is silly, Its not how you keep the engine makers interested & if they don't like the formula or don't feel its relevant to them there not going to enter F1. And I know many fans think the idea of F1 been relevant to anything outside of F1 is dumb, But were not the ones who have to convince people in a board room to give us money to Research, Design, Build & Develop an F1 engine & everything that goes with it.

Also remember that were at the start of development, Things will change over the next few years as what can be changed within the engine is improved & the exhaust designs will also change. In a few years they may be louder & sound better than they do right now.

yeah, slow as hell but tricky.

I guess the laptimes will improve quite significantly when they turn to 15kRPM but the crawling in the corners will remain, I'm afraid

Hilarious. Even the safety car is quicker!

Quite funny, for the first time since the narrow rear wings were introduced, I actually have a positive feeling about the whole package. Genuinely interested in F1 again after years of watching out of habit.

Don't laugh with my positive attitude pls

Mercedes will dominate unless they have reliability problems. So the fight for 1st and 2nd will suck.

Behind them it's going to be hilariously fun :D

Yeah, I was on Webber's nose for that one. :flag:

Mercedes look good, but who knows about the reliability? It'll keep things interesting until the end.

instead of break fluid why not fill red bull brakes with red bull instead?

I think that was established at Bahrain when they were going through the medium speed corners 20kph faster than anyone else.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
