I applaud them both.

1: For making the jump budget-cap or no budget-cap. F1 is expensive and hard to succeed in regardless of how much money you throw at it (Remember Toyota?)

2: Staying despite the proposed and agreed on budget-cap not being in place.

3a: For setting up the team and getting the car done while getting the green light at the 11th hour (Caterham)

3b: For gambling on unproven yet potentially important technology (Nick Wirth's CFD. Yes it failed miserably but they had the guts to try it)

at least Haas will not try to pick an old chassis to update. and they even have a speedway nearby, would be great for private testing if they want a car that only turn left :p

Yes, it is true that there are no race tracks with right hand corners in Charlotte.

Charlotte isn't a 1T track so they couldn't test there.

Barber Motorsports Park does have the appropriate license. Aside from COTA of course.

I thought Caterham joined after the whole budget-cap thing was already of table, they where added to the list when BMW pulled back.

I'm more critical on the FIA for chosing the teams they did (USF1, Campos) while they had better alternatives with much better prospects. So that's why I'm happy a team like that of Haas shows in the list of new teams wanting to join, where there are also entry's like that of Stefan GP trying to get an entry...

They chose Prodrive for 2008 and they never got off the ground.

didn't knew that Charlotte had a road course, might be quite used to sit team's trucks

about those testing venues and cars, the teams aren't allowed to run cars older than 2011 with new parts or that is just meaningless?

USF1's failure should be blamed on the FIA. They're to blame for a lot but not this one.
USF1 managed to jedi-mind-trick us all. From my knowledge the majority here was tricked into believing it was a genuine attempt of a US F1 team.

ProDrive quit because former customer car team Williams blocked the use of customer cars. IIRC it was agreed on that it would be allowed when ProDrive was picked.

I'm definitely rooting for the Haas entry if they decide to use their gigantic facilities in Brussels. :p

I'm still waiting for Stefan GP to get the green light and blow us all away.

If I remember correctly, Stefanovic actually didn't let his cars race because they would be around 5sec quicker than anyone else not even using half of their power...

Well they've got the 2009 Toyota and I hear that's a great chassis.

current laptime from Ricciardo (3rd, only a few tenth's off the pace) seems a bit promising for Renault and Red Bull.

in 2009 they're still there, but still only a few podiums. you may be referring to 2010 chassis, too bad it didn't happened like Honda and Brawn

No-one doubts that the RB10 has a good lap time in it, but try doing that for more than 10 laps without it going kaput.

Ah yes, 2010. Thanks for the correction.

I presume that's written in binary.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
