Of course the 3 was going to be on pole, NASCAR couldn't let anyone else get it

What amazes me is how NASCAR does not even give a fuck about how blatant it looks.

Got it planned out to be at the track Friday and Saturday. Not expecting much out of the Nationwide race but this weekend will be fun for sure.

If the footage wasn't altered, I'm trying to think of reasons why it might falsely appear to show Truex having a faster lap. Does the amount of camera cuts matter?

That's a good point. I'm trying myself to figure out if it is legit. IF IT IS, wow.

Is the sound from Martin's run the whole time? If they skipped some time in the video when the camera cuts, the sound would cut too? I WANNA KNOW

They don't exactly have the lap starting in the same place on the cars, but .039 @ 195mph would be roughly an 11 foot difference. A sprint cup car is about 17 feet long. So if you did the FOX ghost car lap overlay, Dillon should be at s/f and Truex should have the nose of his car roughly at Dillon's rear wheels.

I can't for sure say that that video tells the exact truth. I found it on the iRacing forums. You noted that...

but Dillon's speed was not higher than Truex's at that point.

Worth mentioning is that the video feed is at 60fps, but the live timing goes down to 0.0001 of a second. That means that the picture could be deceiving.

Haha this is glorious. Makes you wonder of Danica's pole was legit last year, or also a publicity stunt.

Rigging the Daytona 500 qualifying is the perfect publicity stunt. Huge publicity, no real sporting consequences.

I guess when Jeff Green took the pole NASCAR had to make sure a nobody wouldn't take the pole again.

Remember, NASCAR once punished Robby Gordon by deducting a lap for a crime that never happened, then refused to give it back. They penalised Montoya whilst leading at Indy, despite his tracker showing he never broke the speed limit. And they penalised Tony Stewart for pit lane speeding, whilst he was being overtaken by another car in the pit lane, which was not penalised.

NASCAR has made countless clearly bullshit decisions to suit themselves. Fixing a pole is not surprising.
