I imagine with Bahrain the darkness will make things look a little prettier. Lets be honest, a big reason we hate the track is because its mind blowingly ugly. Things tend to look a little prettier and nicer in the darker conditions.

That's not a city strictly speaking. The idea for Yeongam was to build a proper city around it with houses, shops etc.

Yeah that's nothing like the plans they had for Korea.

A good plan, until people moved into the houses and complained about the noise of the racetrack, shutting it down :p

Not that there's a lot to complain about anyway, its only really used for F1 and a few road car show events each year.

I realize that there were differences between Korea vs Abu Dhabi however don't forget that both places started with nothing but desolate land. Abu Dhabi actually created what they wanted which included that Ferrari-land, a huge hotel / tourist complex, a marina and oh yes, a race track. The original plans for Abu Dhabi looked as crazy as Korea, it is just that Abu Dhabi managed to pull it off.

Korea is a throwback to the Aida Circuit from 94 & 95. Miles from anywhere, difficult to access. Except that Aida had trees to keep the scenery somewhat exciting.

Still far less ambitious than Yeongam though. A hotel and theme park has nothing on a fully functional city. Plus they actually had the money in Abu Dhabi, whereas the Koreans seemed to be hoping it would appear out of thin air.

Nice to hear from an old name, not so nice to hear what he's saying:

http://formulaspy.com/topnews/929-minar ... cal-secret

Probably the secret of being able to set up the car really well.....

He clearly had way too much to drink at the event.

Was almost worth reading, but that's just utter garbage. On the throttle 50m before any other driver? Yeah, sure.

I believe they got rid of the original promoter about a week after the first event. Or it might even have been before. Such a bonkers event.

'Let's build a motorsport city at the other end of the country to the capital. That'll drive up Korean industry.'

I wonder what F1 paddock dwellers will find this year. More love hotels probably.
