I understand the dislike for drivers, but taking every opportunity you get to diss him with "cool" words makes me think that you are having some fun doing that.

I don't think I do though. I'm not sure where you're getting that from. I'm a great admirer of Alonso the driver.

I think you're confusing my critical comments of Alonso's behaviour with a belief that it means I dislike his presence in F1. Far from it. I'm critical of my favourite drivers I support, like Hamilton and Button. Alonso is a fantastic driver who is an asset to F1, but that doesn't mean his behaviour off track should be applauded or ignored.

I misunderstood you then, to me it seemed like you wanted to say that Alonso doesn't have a place in Formula 1 because of his actions on/off-track.
I guess controversial drivers like Senna, Schumacher, Alonso and even recently Vettel make F1 more interesting, even if their actions are not always right. I think you would agree with me there.

I'm forever sceptical when someone comes out and says something "has no foundation" as 9 times out of 10 it's a poor distraction tactic so they can actually announce what they are denying is happening at the time they are ready to. I lost count at the amount of times Ferrari denied ever speaking with Alonso despite everyone knowing he'd signed. Same for Webber's deal with Porsche and many other examples.

"No it not happening" normally means "Yes it is happening and we'll tell you when we're good and ready".

And while BBC article's headline says "has no foundation" the quote from Ferrari is this:

Quote:
"Right now, we're really not giving any thought to the driver-market situation," said a Ferrari spokesman.

He added that the team were focused on reviving Fernando Alonso's title push.

"That is our priority," he said. "Drivers are not a problem for us even if we were to change Felipe."

At the same time Suomif1.com reporter Pekka Franck has stated that he stands up with his source and with his own name and reputation about truth that the Kimi-Ferrari deal that has been signed already. He was the first to make the headlines about football player Teemu Pukki's deal with Schalke, three days before the official announcement.

In Finnish media this BBC article has been recycled widely, but only suomif1.com and Ilta-Sanomat (the only other source saying that the deal has already been made) have not done so.

 There's a lot of confidence in him then.

I'd love to see it happen though.

I read in Autosport today that Gutierrez's seat is under threat due to Telmex leaving. So I guess if Sirotkin is indeed ready for a race seat, it'll be Hulkenberg-Sirotkin.

Have Telmex left with immediate effect though, or are you referring to 2014? If it is 2014 and considering Hulkenberg's current contractual situation with Sauber, I cannot see the line-up being Hulkenberg and Sirotkin.

2014.

Actual words are 'Loss of Telmex means Esteban Gutierrez is unlikely to stay'

My understanding is Hulkenberg will be at Lotus if Raikkonen departs. If not, he'll be at Sauber.

Hulkenberg should be in the second Ferrari next to Alonso.

The Hulk must surely be regretting his move from FI to Sauber, so then why would he want to stay at Sauber with its current situation?

As an aside with 1 week of off season to go, lets compile a list of the biggest boneheaded team movements from a driver.

For example Jean Alesi turning down Williams to join Ferrari in 1991 or Emerson Fittipaldi to join his brother Wilson's team and stick with it.

I guess so, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the end of 2012, Force India to Sauber looked like a very good move.

Maybe Alonso turning down Red Bull at the end of 2007?

Supposedly they were in negotiations but Alonso opted for Renault instead. I think he was linked to Honda as well.

I think the Webber/Renault one is difficult; he may have won races for them but he could have ended up like Fisi and never gone to Red Bull...
