For a dying series that was a very good race, ALMS will be missed when its gone. What I don't understand is why ELMS is so much worse than ALMS - the car counts aren't that different, I wouldn't say ELMS races on bad tracks but the races always seem so much more dull than an ALMS race.

I don't get it either, maybe it's the tracks, maybe it's the SC rules (though we were hardly awash with safety cars today either...)

In Europe there's only been 2 sportscar races worth watching, ELMS at Silverstone (wet/dry) and Le Mans (because it's Le Mans :p ) the rest have had the amount of action you'd associate with a F1 race at Barcelona but dragged out over 6 hours or so.

With ALMS, every race has been damn good....
And I'm not exactly on it's side but Grand-Am has been decent too.

Maybe it's the shorter races, people are up on the wheel more because they only get a short amount of time in their stint? :?

I too find it peculiar. And I don'y buy the shorter races argument, since many of the great finishes have been at Sebring, Petit or Laguna which is a 6 hour. The main reason is probably a different attitude to the racing in America. European teams have more of a "endurance" mind set, no? Finish at all cost, not winning at all cost.

So close to a win for Goossens/Farnbacher there :(

Really glad with the progress SRT is making though. 8)

After 101 full course yellows, so this isn't so good argument either. :p

ALMS: unfortunately the FCYs, more pro and well-BoPed GT grid and definitely the shorter race format plays a role.

Like Marino's comment - "Used to be my favourite track but they've really watered it down now".

USCR will allow GT3 machinery into GTU...they'll run a bigger restrictor, the spec Crawford wing and probably no diveplanes or rear diffusers, but that's a very cheap upgrade compared to the near $250,000 it was before.

So glad the full spectrum of GT3 machinery is getting in. The fact that Porsche paid to make sure it was an entirely Porsche one-make borefest in ALMS GTC and the hilariously misnamed IMSA GT3 Cup has stunk up that level of competition for years. Unless you get a boner for Porsches I suppose.

Generic historic race. Completely random race for RLM, and very uninteresting. But it's cheap low end historics, so they'll probably get raced rather than driven around slowly.

Doesn't matter if they're driven around slowly, with some historic cars just the sound is good enough.
