Alonso (just as many guys here on the board) was not winning or disrespecting Red Bull's performance. He just said what is obvious anyway and why shouldn't he be allowed to do so.

1. Since Newey's technical update both Red Bulls are running easily at the front.
2. As long as the cars were level on performance, Hamilton and Alonso with their flawless performances this year were ahead of Vettel.
3. Vettel could easily have 25 points more just not making stupid mistakes whenever he had to fight other drivers in equally fast cars but he was not able to do so. (mistakes in Hockenheim, Sepang, Barcelona).

Formula 1 is indeed a team sport and a technical competition. Therefore the respect should be paid to the ones who achieve the result and in Red Bull's case that is the R&D department and not Sebastian Vettel.

And Alonso would be leading the championship had he not driven over Kimis nose at Suzuka and took himself out. Vettel would also have an extra 25 points had the car not died in Valencia, and then again in Monza. The reliability issues, and constant KERS issues at Red Bull are the result of this aggressive Adrian Newey designs.

Indeed, Vettel wouldn't be there and it's all the car. That is why Webber is comfortably second. Wait...

You can sit and say it's all the car. You can sit and say Lewis or Alonso would be better. But the fact of the matter is, they aren't in that car, only Vettel and Webber are. And only one of those drivers get the job done. So unless Webber is a mediocre driver (which he isn't), it isn't all the car. This is the same driver who scored points in his first GP, after being thrown into a BMW half way through a season. This is the same driver who consistently scored points, and won a GP in a Toro Rosso. We all seen him as special. Then as soon as he gets a good car suddenly he isn't special any more? He's done everything that's ever been asked of him, and more, and people still belittle his achievements.

I just find it sad that we live in an era of great drivers like Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Raikkonen, Button and yet people continuously belittle their achievements.

F1 has always been a team sport and has always been hugely dependent on the car. But the best are the ones that make it count - it's why Vettel has 2 titles to Webber's 0, it's why Button won the title in 2009 and not Rubens. Hell, go back in time, Mansell won in 1992 because the car was so good but he beat his team-mate.

And the best team does get recognition - it's called the Constructors Championship.

On another note, Vettel's form at the start of the year was a bit indifferent but he's regrouped - surely that's the sign of a champion?

People hate domination in sport, always have, always will. To criticize them for not offering a greater reason for complaining just ignores human nature, and I'm pretty sick of seeing it too (the "crying" and "tears" comments) as it's not likely to change any time soon. Seriously, why not troll the WRC thread for a while, that's full of the same complaints about Loeb. This really shouldn't be a shock.

An interesting tactic could be the use of KERS - remember last year that Schumacher didn't use it into T1 and then used it on the long straight and made up places.

I actually agree with you. And if anyone dislikes Vettel for dominating (something he has NOT done this year, but I suppose has if you look at title tables alone) then that is fair. However anyone childish enough to post results before the even start and complain about someone making a 1 symbol with a finger deserves all of the criticism they can get.

This could be a good race. Top 6 are very close, DRS is better than last year. Only thing is the tyres are too good, 1 stop maybe 2...

Little bit of a rant here, but Ferrari need to be told to get that Navy flag off the car. That incident was in February, and by waiting until this weekend to put the flag on is nothing but political shit stirring. That's specifically banned in F1. If this was the 90s then Bernie would've been down there after FP1, telling them to cover it up or fuck off home. Shame Bernie doesn't have that power anymore.

F1 needs someone like him in that position, to be able to give the teams a slap when trying stupid stuff like this.

So, how many positions will Webber lose off the start?

I bet that he'll be 5th after the first lap.

None. Today is the day he doesn't ruin his race with a poor start. If I say it enough then he'll finally do it.

One of the McLarens will get Webber by the end of T4.

Seems as though 5Live are playing GP2 driver roulette for their commentary team.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I predict first retirement for Räikkönen. Otherwise the race will be uneventful.
